In 1976 when Bobby Bowden returned to Florida State as the Head Coach, it is published in the Media Guide that he made no promises except one.

"We will play with enthusiasm."

As you see this concept - enthusiasm - repeated throughout Bowden's career, you realize this is not some filler statement, this is a foundational piece to the standard he established at Florida State. It is not the coolest buzz phrase, nor some X's & O's revelation, but fitting coming from Bowden who exceled as a Merchant of Belief.

In the documentary "A Winning Way" (released 2009), Coach Bowden described what enthusiasm meant to him and why it mattered.

@DidierDarin @amandaafootball Which half of Jimbo’s era are the fans fixated on? The first 4 years or the last four? Recruiting is part of being a head coach. Knocking him for scoring a recruiting win with Jameis is nonsensical.

The great '96 Florida State Defense was a physical, attacking defense that featured relentless effort. Head Coach Bobby Bowden said the unit "played through the echo of the whistle" while Florida Head Coach Steve Spurrier accused the group of playing dirty.

November 28, 1992.

Florida State's Tamarick Vanover has a career day in a victory against rival Florida, amassing a career-high 239 all-purpose yards. Vanover, a Tallahassee native (Leon High) gained national recognition as a true freshman gaining over 1,000 all-purpose yards and averaging over 50 yards per kick return.

Vanover would leave FSU after his true sophomore season, electing to sign a professional contract in the Canadian Football League.

Think this is an interesting conversation so I wanted to contribute with an observation. Only one playoff team (Tulane) had fewer than 7 RBs on their roster this past season. Also have a suspicion there will be an uptick in RB carries for FSU this year after TC leading the team in attempts last year. Don't think it would hurt to bring in an inexpensive depth piece if possible.
