@fleshsimulator @zambologna during one of the bursts the ROF audibly slows by around 100 RPM. 240Bs are designed for sustained fire, it takes a lot more than 100 rounds for heat to slow it down that much. that behavior is almost identical to FA converted AR-10s

It's also S/N 207973, likely made in 1965 at the earliest, well after the M16 was designated. "M16" is nothing more than a part number for AR-15 model 604s acquired from Colt. The AR-15 as a rifle, platform and concept was created at the request of the DoD specifically for combat.
