@theficouple Yup, wife and I are 34 with $2.1M NW and after years of aggressive investing and frugality, we're buying a nice lake house and diversifying our portfolio.
Decided we were at an inflection point in age and net worth where there was diminishing returns on continued frugality.
@Amonahan I'm fine not chasing more when I:
1. Already am upper middle class within top 5% net worth in a LCOL area
2. Have a 6 figure corporate job w/ benefits but its only 20-30 hrs/week of low stress work & healthy social balance of WFH and in office
3. Content with life
@draftcheat He couldn't have been limited so he could've easily just arbitraged with that $10k to at least double his money. Is he dumb? I don't understand.
@TraderXploit@RobertSagurton@DriftProtocol I'm some random that had a chunk of money in delta neutral vaults.
I think a lot of us are just watching and waiting to see what happens and what options there may be to recover anything.
@The_diSPENCER42@StockTalks21 Yeah it's obvious that neither one of them were intentionally trying to make contact with each other.
Hurley turns, see the ref walking into him, puts his head down and doesn't move. The ref thinks Hurley is going to kindly get out of the way and he doesn't.
@BalesBets Sure it's 70% middle aged moms but Orange Theory's model did this for me.
When I'm charged if I dont show up, it doesn't require any disapline.
Now I sign up for a marathon every year and again, doesn't require much disapline to train for it since I can't/won't back out.
@NateSilver538 Everyday I'm astounded by the amount of well educated, otherwise seemingly intelligent people, and their inability to see exactly what Trump's character and motivations are, going all the way back to 2016 and if you followed him, way earlier. None of this is surprising.
@zodchiii@BalesBets Iโd also consider expected utility because it factors in your nature, specifically the cost of stress and the value of peace of mind. Like you touch on with Kelly Criterion, it's doing this with monetary decisions since it naturally scales for personal risk tolerance.
@JonAguiar@strassa2 ๐ฎ when Republicans start getting behind impeachment proceedings when his attempt to federalize or cancel the midterms result in the political cost of staying with him exceeding the cost of leaving
@AlZeidenfeld Evolutionary psychology shows our brains prioritize tribal belonging over objective truth. Admitting you were conned by the 'tribe leader' feels like a death sentence to the primitive brain. Itโs a survival mechanism protecting their social identity.
@AlZeidenfeld Not sure what's more maddening, MAGA cultists that can't see they're in a cult or the fact both they and the leftists can't see there is a middle where a lot of people land.
Like you can be anti-woke and anti-Trump. The social media algos don't promote reason though
@adamlevitan@strassa2 If we accept the Munger/Buffett critique, is BTC just a "greater fool" volatility play? Specifically: with the massive upside gone, is it even worth a 1-5% portfolio slice anymore, or are we just holding a high-risk asset thatโs likely to lag the S&P 500 long-term?
@AlZeidenfeld@Jennyjinx@hasanthehun It's understandable why Garland didn't release them
The fact is, he technically could have, the chances of Maxwell winning an appeal were low and public interest was high
He played it safe as normal gov officials always do rather than create a circus right before the election
