@KCPRexus@Abesaint07@Risen_SzN Even more brad then that is the fact there is an entire book dedicated to the full mosaic and rabitical law called the Mishneh Torah. In that law it says not even to verbally abuse these "slaves."
Maybe just maybe! We arent talking about 1800s civil rights violations.
@NBrasing@poladian57260@darwintojesus I gave you the name of the book that contains most if not all rabitical law and you said "But thats not the bible!!!"
Didnt make anything up, you just refuse to acknowledge maybe a collection of religious books doesnt contain the entirety of the mosaic law.
@BanButterfly Ezekiel: Judah will have 40 years following its denial of God until their destruction.
Judah: Kills Jesus in 30 AD and ceases to be in 70 AD.
Athiests: Thats too vague.
@Abesaint07@Risen_SzN You cannot verify if they will... The entire holy book has ways of tiptoeing around sexual abuse of minors to make it acceptable.
Look at rape statistics comparing the before and after mass muslum immigration to european countries. Its a very strong possitive corellation.
@Abesaint07@Risen_SzN Depends on the culture but due to current events ill guess Muslums.
"It is not illegal for an adult male to 'thigh' or enjoy a young girl who is still in the age of weaning."
You are welcome. (Also Muhamed was married to children so this shouldn't be unexpected)
@NBrasing Yes I do. Becasue they could simply sell themselves again. There is nothing that says they couldnt choose to be one permenantly. The entire system was set up that way to help those who could not help themselves. It was trading work for food, water, and shelter.
@NBrasing@poladian57260@darwintojesus Again, the bible is the baseline. Thats like me saying "Slavery in the US is legal because the bill of rights doesnt say its not allowed."
You ignore that the constitution exists along with the hundreds of other documents that disallow it.
@NBrasing So you accept that laws can be changed but reject the actual book of all the legal frameworks and edits made to them?
Also yes, they could be servants perminantly, they just had to be wiling to do so. This verse doesnt deny that.
@NBrasing@poladian57260@darwintojesus Yea, the very baseline explanation. If you base your entire study of that time period on just the bible then you have a pretty incomplete version of it. You act like the actual practices didnt have proper legal frameworks and extentions to work around loopholes.
@NBrasing Isrealites could very much become permenant servants. This one actually is directly from the bible... It could be from a marriage of someone related to the master or from the willingness to stay.
In those conditions, however, it became permanent.
@NBrasing@poladian57260@darwintojesus No, one is a collection of the practices and legal framworks of biblical law and the other is a very baseline explanation of it.
@NBrasing Non-isrealites were not always lifelong generational chattle slaves though. And even Isrealites could become lifelong servants if they chose to be.
@NBrasing@poladian57260@darwintojesus The bibles mosaic law is based on that exact legal framework. The only difference is one of them actually goes into dept on the topics, not just basic do's and dont's.
@NBrasing I dont want to call every form of servitude slavery. These "slaves" during that time frame were expected to be treated as humans despite their religion, hence why there was a sharp line between dicipline and a death penalty for the master.
@NBrasing@poladian57260@darwintojesus I read your message wrong, that's on me. I was refering to the Mishneh Torah which is a VERY in depth book about all of the comandments and the legal framework around it. The bible only goes over the baseline rulesets which leaves a lot of loopholes or gaps in the law.
