BREAKING: Yesterday Jim Jordan, Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Boebert, Andy Biggs, Paul Gosar and other Republicans sent a letter to Pete Buttigieg and the Department of Transportation asking for NTSB documents related to the East Palestine derailment.

Here's the Problem... The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent establishment of the US Government and NOT part of the Department of Transportation.

Since the entirety of the GOP House oversight Committee clearly needs a civics lesson, here you go:

- The (NTSB) investigates every significant accident in the US

- The NTSB is an independent establishment of the United States Government, not part of the Department of Transportation

- The NTSB's job is to make transportation safer by conducting independent accident investigations and by advocating safety improvements
