Look at these stats and tell me with a straight face Barcola is a massive upgrade on Gakpo โ ๐
Barcola record in Ligue 1
- 128 games 34 goals.
Gakpo record in the Premier League
- 127 games 32 goals.
Barcola at World Cup
- 8 games 3 goals
Gakpo at World Cup
- 4 games 3 goals.
Barcola in Europe
- 43 games 6 goals
Gakpo in Europe
- 47 games 15 goals
Now can you imagine Gakpo stats if he was playing in Ligue 1 with PSG ๐คญ
You are being gaslit by some big LFC accounts on here here exactly how good Barcola is.
Remember he is basically leaving PSG because he isn't starting.
So 128 million plus is absolutely ludicrous for Barcola when we have big issues elsewhere ๐
They're already prepping you for Slot staying next season, no matter how this one ends๐ซข
The reality is FSG, Edwards and Hughes are as much to blame as Slot.
They all rode Klopp's genius.
Without him, FSG would be among the most hated owners in football & Edwards would be a total joke๐
@HendrickD82 Virgil has not been the same player this season imo. Still great yes, far from what he was the last decade tho. 20 goals allowed in 22 games since PSV loss isn't good defense?
What about last year?
Response: *Insert quote about how he doesn't get much credit bc he inherited a great team*
Well that team is gone and now its his fault I guess.
Personally, I think the lens should be on Hughes
We've taken 48 points from 29 games. 1.655 points per game.
That's 63 points over a 38 game season. 8th last season.
We've taken 33 points from our last 24 games. 1.375 points per game.
That's 52 points over a 38 game season.
12th last season.
But #SlotIn, right?
@HendrickD82 The team has been difficult to manage throughout the season and he hasn't done great but I don't think firing him is the solution. I find it hard a title winning coach from less than a year ago becomes a bad manager overnight
@HendrickD82 I wouldn't consider Isak, Leoni, Bradley, Frimpong, and Gomez injuries, Salah cliff drop off, losing Diaz, Darwin, Jota, and most importantly Trent's unique ability on the ball as poor excuses. Gakpo output, Konate stepping on a rake constantly I too wouldn't deem managerial fault
@Rimbeux This is the landscape of the EPL rn tho. I'd argue there isn't a team in the league playing football that's nice on the eye. Deadball time snd setpiece influence is at an all time high. Has Slot been superb, no he hasn't. But to put all blame on him seems naive. Low hanging fruit
@HendrickD82 There is plenty of context for why Liverpools season is unacceptable. I think a lot of it is more an imbalance and lack of depth in the roster. Which imo has forced Slot to play differently than he may prefer. Wingers are crucial in Slot's system. A dept seriously lacking rn
Numbers never lie. 58 goals for in 29 games ๐ฅฑ. 30 open play goals in 29 games ๐ฅฑ. IF they win the title hats off to em, however there's levels to it
Arsenal must be the only club in football thatโs been criticised for 15 years for not being able to win ugly or deliver when it matters, and then when they actually do grind out results in a title race, they get attacked for that too. Itโs a no-win narrative, and that kind of inconsistency is whatโs killing the game.
Almost all of these reasons are outside of Slots control, no? Football is a players sport, tactically things are ok, personnel is a real issue. If Hughes gets the summer right (wingers!), Liv will back to be competing for everything no question
My thoughts on the game:
-That was one of the biggest robberies I've seen๐ซข we were dreadful but we will take it๐
- What has Slot done to LFC, first half from LFC was one of the worst I've seen from a LFC side.
- Slot deserves zero credit for that.
- Salah's worst LFC game ever โ no argument on subbing him.
- Made Neco Williams look like prime Roberto Carlos.
- Diaz โ Gakpo is our biggest downgrade since Suarez to Balotelli/Lambert.
- Gravenberch & Mac Allister were poor but MacAllister stood up when we needed him.
- We now rely heavily on Wirtz for creativity โ very little without him.
- Squad depth is a joke: 2 GKs on bench just to fill it. Forest's bench stronger.
- Van Dijk & Konatรฉ are the only ones holding us together โ both excellent again.
- Ekitikรฉ offered nothing โ forgot he was on until his awful late miss.
- If we can get ยฃ35m+ for Jones this summer, take it. Easily upgradeable, not worth ยฃ200k/wk he wants.
@DistanceCovered@Carl_M79 Yep CP blocked up when out of possession. Kerkez ended up being more the LW than anybody. Wirtz occupied left side 10 for the most part
