NRC is training teachers to better understand and respond to the needs of children affected by crisis.

No child should miss out on learning because their family cannot afford a pen or exercise book.
With funding from @UNICEFSudan, we are helping children in Western Kadugli County, South Kordofan, get the basic materials they need to take part in class.

Displaced families in Khor Ajwal, #WhiteNile in #Sudan, have been living through difficult conditions for 3+ years, with many struggling to find safe and decent shelter.

We provided 400 locally constructed shelters and 270+ tents for families in need.

In #Kakuma, our teachers and education staff from #Kenya, #Somalia & #Sudan learnt practical ways to manage stress, build resilience & support learner-wellbeing in crisis settings.

#Somalia: Deka Ahmed, a mother of 7 in #Kismayo, receives $100 a month for three months through cash assistance.

The support helps her meet urgent needs while caring for her severely malnourished child. The programme supports 600 people.

Many children in Goz Al Salam camp in #Sudan have missed out on education for nearly 3 years.

Thanks to @Sida, 1,500+ children now have completed a learning programme that helped them build their skills and move closer to returning to formal school.

When money is scarce, food comes first. Soap comes after, if there is anything left.

In #Tawila, North Darfur, #Sudan, Israa and other local volunteers are producing affordable soap and cleaning products for their community with funding from @OCHAFunds.

John fled Khartoum with nothing. Today, in Abukadara, South Sudan, he has land to farm, water, and a shelter he built himself.

He still needs plastic sheeting before the rains get worse.

#Sudan: In #Kadugli, #SouthKordofan, we are helping thousands of children come to class ready to learn.

With support from @Sida, 4,000+ children received essential school materials, while 1,700+ girls received dignity kits to help them feel comfortable and confident at school.

#Dadaab schools in #Kenya, face flooding risks from forecast El Niño rains. Together with @SaveChildren_KE, with support from @eu_echo, we met Ifo School Board of Management to assess preparedness and discuss actions to keep learners safe and learning during the rains.

#Somalia: Without an ID, getting a SIM card or accessing services can be difficult.
Habiba Osman now has a National ID: “I feel like I am part of the local community.”
We’re working with @SEMIGRATION, @SwissEmbassyKE, @NIRASomalia & #BRA to issue 2,000 IDs in #Mogadishu.

We are helping farmers in #WhiteNile, #Sudan, improve their skills, access seeds & tools to grow more food.
In 2026, we trained 775 people from Rabak, White Nile & 750+ received farming support.

For Hakima, a displaced woman in #Deynile, #Somalia, getting a National ID means being able to access basic services.
With support from @SEMIGRATION and @SwissEmbassyKE, we are working with @NIRASomalia and #BRA to support displaced people to get IDs.

We helped 800+ returnees in #RenkCounty, #SouthSudan secure land documents. Many still live in shelters with no protection from fire or flood.

#Somalia: Drought is devouring rural Puntland. Livestock are dying & water has vanished.

With @noradno & @NorwayInSomalia support, we’re delivering emergency water trucking in Nugal.

Needs are rising but funds are low. We must scale up now to prevent further suffering.

After years of displacement, families in #Mornei, #WestDarfur state in #Sudan, lost their homes and belongings again after a fire destroyed their shelters.

We registered 1,000 families affected by the fire to receive emergency assistance.

In #RenkCounty, #SouthSudan, football is bringing young refugees and returnees together at Renk Transit Centre.

In Um Hani, #WhiteNile State in #Sudan, women sometimes borrowed money just to meet urgent needs.

Thanks to @Sida, they received cash assistance and training to strengthen their savings and support each other.

Over 25,000 refugees in #RenkCounty, #SouthSudan are digging wells by hand, most of which run dry or get salty within months.

The war in #Sudan left families without identity documents, making it harder to move, access services & register children in school.
