I get this question a lot…

I have answered it in Twitter spaces and within discord and such but maybe worth posting it here in more detail so more folks can see it.

The goal for @photofinishgame has always been to grow primarily through mobile. And the plan has been to approach it just like we did with our previous mobile games.

Attaching an image where you can see our daily spend / kpis back on original photo finish mobile … once you get into a bit of a rhythm, you just simply run paid ads and keep iterating depending on how profitable they are.

Crypto allowed us to approach user and player acquisition in a totally fresh and new manner, but the plan was always to settle back into our old ways.

Run ads, tune and tweak every day. It was our daily routine for years to literally check the metrics every morning. That’s still the plan! To attract “normies”, IMO you just acquire users just like any other normal app. Ads. There’s no magic formula. You pay for ads. But that’s why so much of our game is designed around not requiring crypto to play it (ie why DERBY exists).

The reason we are still only running small test ad buys is the same reason we did before for many years. Basically all (successful) mobile apps “soft launch” before they go worldwide and start spending large sums of money on advertising. You want to find out what works, what doesn’t. Improve onboarding, run tests, improve analytics, etc.

So anyway, that’s the plan. We aren’t going anywhere…we will grow from 1k to 10k to 100k users just like we did before.

People can be nervous or impatient but just gotta remember the time horizons on games will always be longer than you imagine. And even until the 10k > 100k growth has happened, there is still so much fun to be had in the game and community! Which is definitely not commonly said about many “soft launch” products.
