I get why folks have gripes with travel sports. I really do.
What I take issue with is lumping everything into one big pile.
Uniforms, bats, gloves, even local field usage — the costs have skyrocketed. There are coaches who are pouring nights, weekends, and holidays into our kids. They shouldn’t be allowed to make a living doing it? Get out of here with that.
I’m all ears for real ideas on how to make it more affordable. A wood bat costs $200+ now, for crying out loud. But let’s stop demonizing the huge number of people working their tails off to create great opportunities for these kids.
Coaches deserve to make a living.
Sure, bad actors exist. They always will. But the ones who genuinely care far outweigh the ones who don’t. Way more.
@zack_cozart If a play at 1st were bang bang at best for the defense, would you suggest/teach the SS to avoid the contact or draw the contact to potentially get the interference call? I figure that safety & playing 140+ games is more important than 1 double play. Just curious what’s taught.
There is actually nothing more American than being able to say you are proud to rep your country while being embarrassed and horrified by the country’s leadership.
Alright, I'm going to say this one final time so all of you can move on. TJ Watt did not have 618 pass rush snaps in 2021. Myles Garrett did not have 437 pass rush snaps in 2025. There is some terminology (and intentionally misleading images) that we need to clear up.
Team pass snaps = total # off pass snaps the entire team faced (total pass attempts against + sacks)
Pass rush snaps = total number of times an individual player was a pass rusher
In 2021, the Steelers as a team faced 618 team pass snaps -- 563 attempts and 55 sacks.
In 2021, TJ Watt was a pass rusher on 393 snaps (413 total minus 20 snaps that were negated by penalty). He averaged 17.47 snaps per sack and 1.5 sacks per game played (2nd best all-time behind Reggie White's 1.75 in 1987).
In 2025, the Browns as a team faced 540 team pass snaps -- 487 attempts and 53 sacks. The "437" number floating around was team pass snaps as of December 15th.
In 2025, Myles Garrett was a pass rusher on 479 snaps (507 total minus 28 that were negated by penalty). He averaged 20.83 snaps per sack and 1.35 sacks per game played (8th best all-time).
All of this can be found on https://t.co/3AdZaAvt2k, https://t.co/OUgQbiHFIe and https://t.co/LL9ie6mlDF. There is a small amount of disagreement on pass rush snaps between PFF and NFL Pro, but it negligible.
Now, let's get on with our lives.
Coaching carousel updates, per @DMRussini:
• Raiders likely to part ways with HC Pete Carroll
• Browns leaning towards moving on from HC Kevin Stefanski; GM Andrew Berry likely to stay
• HC Todd Bowles, GM Jason Licht appear safe even if Bucs miss playoffs
• Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins have been consistent voices of support for HC Zac Taylor
• Commanders have discussed potentially moving on from OC Kliff Kingsbury even if he doens’t get a head-coaching job
Based on how the award has been given, Stafford should win the MVP don’t get me wrong, but the most “valuable” player this Josh Allen.
Stafford has 2 elite receivers along with a maybe the best play caller & a great defense
Bills however, are a 3-4 win team without Josh Allen
Josh Allen winning MVP Matthew Stafford would be even worse than Lamar Jackson losing it last year
Bills fan just want us to forget a month of subpar QB play for another pity MVP
