I've had to take a hiatus from Twitter for a bit due to difficult personal circumstances. I'm going to ease back in. I really enjoy interacting with all you science nerds & I look forward to networking opportunities! Here's some beautiful H. femoralis tadpoles for your enjoyment
Hey @GraceyWeather my boyfriend & I watch your weather forecast every morning. He has a bit of a celebrity crush on you & his bday is coming up this Wed(17th). Do you think you could wish him a happy birthday for me? We usually watch at 730ish. His name is Kris Boldizar Thanks!๐
One of my adult Xenosaurus popped out to say hi. These guys love to wedge themselves in rock crevices, so it's hard to resist a photo opp when it happens. #xenosaurus#MexicanLizards
Welcome to the World
Hatchling Western Coachwhip (Masticophis flagellum testaceus) making its way across a busy road at sunset. This was the first of 30 snakes seen the other night, mostly young of the year.
Scientist measures Caribbean lizards. 4 days later, Hurricanes Irma hit. Then Maria. Scientist returns & the lizard population now has bigger toes, longer front legs & a better grip. Amazing case of evolution in action. https://t.co/Qj0FXgoZqK
Further, presenting this video as humorous is condoning animal abuse. You are normalizing the torture of an animal that feels pain, that serves a purpose in its environment, & has intrinsic value. They are already at high risk for abuse, & this only encourages ignorant behavior
@AFVofficial You just aired a clip of dogs biting & flinging a snake trapped on a glueboard. Who approved this flagrant animal abuse to be aired? Regardless of anyone's personal opinion of snakes, this was inexcusable. Would you have aired dogs tearing up a trapped cat or rabbit?
Can you find the snake? This little guy hung out about 4ft away for the entire time we checked traps - 30min or so. People tell me all the time that cottonmouth are aggressive. It's funny that I've met so many and yet to see that kind of behavior. #fieldwork#cottonmouth#HERper
Short answer: NO
Politicians are, for the most part, not pain management drs. As a chronic pain sufferer, I would be incapacitated on certain days w/o my meds. Every individual is different & one size does not fit all. As always, a big part of the solution lies in education https://t.co/9MU3TmbphW
I like to go play in the ditch as a means of stress relief. I was super stoked to find this big tooth, and a little disappointed to find it broken. Even so, it was a pleasant way to spend the evening. #fossil#sharktooth#stressrelief
