There's nothing like turning a corner on a woodland
walk to discover a blanket of bluebells sprawling across the forest floor. In fact when you spot a thick carpet of purple perfection, it's an indication that you’re walking through an ancient woodland.

Busy holidays can be overwhelming for some. That's why @NTCastleWard are offering 'Calm Bags' this Easter. With fidget toys, ear defenders and sensory items, they help create a comfortable environment for those who need extra support. The team can also point out quieter spaces.
Could you imagine yourself running & planning events like Christmas or Easter at Castle Ward or know someone who might?

February is short - but so is one of its best-loved wild flowers.
Clustered bravely in the winter soil, the Latin name for a snowdrop is 'Galanthus nivalis' which means 'milk flower of the snow'.

Good news from @NTCastleWard - red squirrels have been successfully introduced into the County Down estate.
Together with @UlsterWildlife, @BelfastZoo, @daera_ni and @heartofdownreds, we’re working to secure the long-term future of this endangered species.
