We built a new token standard on Solana.

NTS-1, the Numbered Token Standard.

Solana has fungible tokens. Solana has NFTs. It never had one that is both. An NTS-1 token is a liquid coin with a supply, decimals and a market, that is also member #N of a capped collection. Think ERC-20 and ERC-721 fused into a single mint.

The difference with every hybrid that came before: zero custom program.

NTS-1 is a layout on top of Token-2022, Solana's native token program. Token-2022 assigns the number when member #N joins the group and refuses member 1,001. Two simultaneous mints can never share a number. Nobody can forge a membership: the only writer is a PDA, never a wallet.

Identity is on-chain and immutable: number, max, seed, traits. The image is a rendering of the seed and traits. Lose every server we own and the token loses nothing: number, cap, seed and traits live in the mint.

Collections nest. Anyone can open a sub-collection that is itself member #N of the root, with its own cap, theme and rules. A hierarchy of collections readable straight from the mints. No indexer, no trust.

Every wallet and explorer that already reads Token-2022 already reads NTS-1. Detection is one function. SDK, spec, program source and Jupiter AMM adapter are public.

Using it is one click. No wallet, no form. A coin is born, numbered, on its own permanent bonding curve. Claim it within the week, or let it trade once and it never expires. The creator share of every trade is yours.

The first collection is CRYPTID: 1,000 one-eyed kaiju, each one painted from its on-chain traits. The first ones are born on mainnet. Specials are decided by the number alone: the first, repdigits like 777, palindromes like 121, rounds like 500. The kind of rarity you can verify without trusting us.

NFTs are an area of crypto that i think deserves another look

the 2021 boom and subsequent crash left a lot of people with a negative view of them, but the underlying concept still makes sense to me

as more businesses move onchain, NFTs could become a useful way to represent ownership, experiment with revenue sharing and build communities around products

i expect there's still a lot of room for experimentation beyond the NFT models we saw last cycle
