@NUJofficial There are also improved redundancy terms and a promise of a performance based profit share. The new deal is not an end. The majority of reporters will only get a 3% raise for 2022 - the equivalent of a huge pay cut - and this deal is far from perfect. It is, though, a start.

Today the Reach NUJ chapel concluded a ballot of our members, who voted by 55%-45% to accept a new pay proposal from #Reachplc @NUJofficial The deal has been secured due to the hard work of our members and shows that standing strong and united leads to positive outcomes.

@NUJofficial For our lowest paid journalists, and those in centres which saw historically lower wages, the deal accepted is a huge positive. Around 700 of our colleagues, many new to the industry or recently qualified, and Reach-based #LDRS will see their salaries go up by 14-44%.

NUJ and BECTU reps met Al Jazeera management at ACAS the conciliation service today.
There was no agreement on pay, and the unions will formally notify Al Jazeera of a ballot on industrial action in the coming week.
