Professor Ngugi wa Thiong’o’s open letter to President @WilliamsRuto is disappointing and hypocritical. The prose is halting and not smooth. Although the letter contains historical facts, its rendition is rudimentary.

Ngugi did not write an open letter to Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta who were both American lackeys.

Ngugi did not pen an open letter to Kibaki in 2003, after the latter visited the White House and engaged in nonsensical symbolism that Ruto engaged in.

Ngugi neither condemned Mwai Kibaki for stealing the 2007 presidential election, nor for perpetrating the 2007/8 post election violence, ethnic cleansing, plunder and tribalism during his reign.

Ngugi did not condemn Uhuru Kenyatta for stealing the 2017 presidential elections (in August and October), for political repression, torture, mass murders, subversion of the constitution, and defiance of court orders.

Ngugi did not utter a word after Uhuru Kenyatta destroyed my house, abducted, detained, tortured and forced me to exile - twice - in 2018. This is a man I had hosted in Toronto for 5 days in 1990!

Whereas I have criticized Ruto for his wrong-headed Haiti mission and agree with Ngugi on this point, Kenyans expected more from Ngugi. Much more!

Because of Ngugi’s history and writing, they expected him to be consistent, balanced and objective about ALL Kenyan presidents and regimes. However, his LOUD and LONG SILENCE when Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta were oppressing Kenyans only to wake up when Ruto is in power cannot go unchallenged!

Is Ngugi criticizing Ruto because he [Ruto] is a Kalenjin? If not, why didn’t he PUBLICLY criticize Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta who had committed similar crimes, and had also coddled imperialists?

There it is. I have said it.
