Ugh. If you write, then by definition you’re a writer, whatever you write. It’s not that deep.

Some fanfic writers do it purely for fun and aren’t bothered about improving, and that’s ok. You wouldn’t have a go at someone who’s taken up knitting for a hobby and gives you a free jumper, even it’s shit.

Some writers want to improve, and that’s ok too, but they can do that without random input from non experts on Twitter.

Some fanfic is good, some not to good. It’s fine to not like stuff. There’s just no need to announce it to the world. Why are you shitting on someone’s hobby?

Most fanfic writers don’t care whether you treat them like a “real” author or whether you think their work is “real” art. They just want people to not be mean dickheads.

Can we just stop all the bullshit, please?
