Over 12 years, internet connectivity in schools has expanded from 7.3% (2013–14) to 67.4% (2025–26) and computer facilities grew from 24.1% (2013–14) to 69.9% (2025–26).

The Ministry of Education, DoSEL (Dept of School Education and Literacy) organised an Orientation Workshop on PRASHAST 2.0 and other Inclusive Education interventions today, bringing together States/UTs to introduce the revamped PRASHAST 2.0 App and strengthen inclusive education in schools.

In his keynote address, Secretary, DoSEL, Shri T. K. Anil Kumar reaffirmed the Department's commitment to inclusive education under NEP 2020 and the RPwD Act, 2016.

He noted that while Children with Special Needs (CwSN) constitute about 1.73% of India's child population (Census 2011), UDISE+ enrolment of CwSN is only 0.89% against the general enrollment , highlighting gaps in identification and enrolment.

He urged States/UTs to:

👉 Expedite the UDISE+ Student Progression exercise.

👉 Ensure timely screening under PRASHAST 2.0.

👉 Complete teacher sensitisation and strengthen capacity building in inclusive education.

👉 Carry out accessibility audits of schools under Samagra Shiksha.

👉 Make universal PRASHAST 2.0 screening a mission priority to ensure every CwSN receives timely support.

Over 12 years, the dropout rate fell sharply from 4.67 (2013–14) to 0.3 (2025–26) at primary level and from 14.54 (2013–14) to 9.5 (2025–26) at secondary level (9th-10th). This reduction reflects strengthened efforts to retain learners in school and support their continued educational progression.
