When French star Delphine Cascarino joined San Diego Wave in 2024, there was so much excitement.
Just two years later though, she left the NWSL for England. Why? She explains in an interview with Flashscore 🗣️
“I loved my life in San Diego,” Cascarino said.
“The league is one of the best in the world. There is intensity, a high level of play, and great entertainment around the games.”
“The only downside was the distance [to France]. I had the opportunity to return to play in Europe. It was a really difficult choice.”
“If the club had been in Europe, I'd still be there [laughs]. But I wanted to be closer to the French national team to perform better.”
“I'm reaching a certain age [29], and you have to make decisions for your body and mind. It was hard being away from my family.”
The forward is now with the London City Lionesses in England, a team owned by Korean-American billionaire Michele Kang.
