Comms stepping up a notch. ✅ Everyone else (curiously ) still writing compositions or doing press conferences….which don’t resonate in a very digital society.
The Awareness isn’t the problem, it’s the savior complex.
You have to accept you can’t save everyone nor change everything you’re not directly connected to…
In everything you do, never forget people support the result - not the process. Life is a process, count yourself lucky if you get support for just existing or suffering. Birth & death are results so Baby Showers and Funerals will always be full of support. There, poetically.
I don't know about you, but mimi nkisaidia msee, sitawaitaka afeel so grateful to me everytime. I always want them to pass over the kindness and help, if they are able.
In matters that concern progress, us as African people have looked up to the Western civilization.
Evidently, this is by design as it's through the effects of colonialism and neo-colonialism thereafter more than a half a century later.
A thread.
Tough economic times.
The boys put together a song that carried the movement. Mashujaa Day celebrations are taxpayers', not Ruto's personal money.
We're technically paying them for a job well done. Kudos to the event organisers for putting them on🫶🏾
I miss pre corona Twitter, if someone tweeted something out of pocket we either cooked or ignored them, nowadays we have woke and bitter tweeps who report you to your places of work/school and mess with your bread. Fùck cancel culture.
It's high time tuongee ndo tueze kusonga mbele.
We need a party and leaders. Collective leadership.
The Roman's, Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Bangladesh were all organized.
Tunafaa kudrop notion ya leaderless na partyless.
This is my opinion. Think about it.
NO POLITICIAN should brand their faces or names on anything built by PUBLIC FUNDS. If you want to brand your face or name on anything, use your money, or else write the name and put the face of every taxpayer on that item you are branding.
I prefer not to post my woman, or engage them online, for the same reason men don't go to war with their women: she is my underbelly. Not because I'm cheating. Certainly not because I'm not proud of her. Simply, no one can get to me except through the people I love.
I do not center people in relationships. I center the experience. How they make me feel: How I make them feel. Do they bring me laughter? do I bring them laughter? Not me. Not her; but the laughter - and even the tears - we shared. Experiences not people.
When you center people, you become selfish, insecure, & rabidly jealous. Thus, women fear dating unaccomplished men for fear of losing them when accomplished. And the men would rather tie their women down in the house than encourage them to realize their potential outside- for fear of losing them to more accomplished men.
See, people leave. Anyone can leave. At any time too. For all reasons. You can postpone it, but you can't help that. What does not wish to be kept, will not be kept. And they take everything with them - except the experience you shared. That's the one thing they can't touch. That's why it is best, in the long run, to center the experience.
People who center experience are more likely to invest in the relationship & their partners. They are also less likely to malign/harass their partners for leaving them. They revere the experience shared, are grateful for its fruits, and are less susceptible to the bitterness of heartbreak.
The goal is not to keep - the goal is to live. And life is about experiences. People are just vessels.
We are in the era of laissez-faire parenting. Let kids eat what they want. Let them behave how they want. Let them be whoever they want. And whatever they say is valid. So what does it mean to parent then?
And this was one of the reasons I figured I wasn't going to bring kids into this life. I was going to teach my kids boundaries, but what good would it do if everyone else was teaching theirs entitlement?
Ruto won because he wanted the presidency more than Odinga and was willing to work twice as hard as both Odinga and Kenyatta.

The Elephant - Explaining Society to the People

Affordable Housing Levy of 1.5% on employees' gross income is a sin tax on creation of employment and securing employment. It's like excise duty on alcohol and cigarettes. It absolutely makes no sense that all employees and employers are required to pay yet most will not qualify for / don't need the affordable housing.
If it was intended to generate more tax revenue as the executive explains, an increase in the rate of corporate tax, PAYE (already expanded) and VAT would cover a larger tax base than the already overtaxed formal sector. The Government was clearly targeting a low hanging tax base with easy compliance.
Employers, particularly startups, are laying off employees and hiring "casuals" and "consultants" to mitigate the additional 1.5% cost. This in itself has its own tax risks but it's where we are for lack of Government tax policy.
You are encouraged to be unemployed, a casual, a freelancer, a consultant or a business owner w/o employees for the affordable housing levy not to apply to you. And in such a case, you won't qualify for affordable housing (assuming you need it).
There are enough petitions in the High Court to declare this tax retrogressive and unconstitutional.
