The Knicks are NYC champions, and the city is celebrating with a parade up the Canyon of Heroes on Thursday, June 18. 🏀 If you're heading down or live and work in Lower Manhattan, here's your complete guide to getting there, staying safe, and getting home.
🗓️ THE BASICS
The parade starts at 10 AM, kicking off near Bowling Green and traveling north along Broadway to City Hall. Viewing along the route is free and open to everyone, no ticket needed. Get there early, because the best spots fill up fast. We recommend arriving at least 2 hours ahead, since streets along the route close to crossing once the parade begins. The parade is family-friendly and open to all ages. Plan for crowds, weather, and street congestion, and note there will be no dedicated restroom access. If severe weather moves in, the time or date may shift, so watch official City channels.
🅿️ PARKING
Starting at 7 PM Thursday, parking is prohibited south of Canal St. Cars will be towed if not removed, so move your vehicle this evening.
🚧 STREET CLOSURES
Starting at 7 AM Thursday, everything south of Canal St closes to vehicular traffic from the Hudson River to the East River. The FDR and West Side Highway stay open. Traffic off the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan can only go northbound on the FDR. Pedestrians can use the walkway.
🚇 SUBWAY
Starting at 4:30 AM Thursday, the Wall Street (4,5) and City Hall (R,W) stations close and reopen after the parade and ceremony. Bowling Green (4,5), Fulton (4,5,J,Z,2,3), Brooklyn Bridge (4,5,6), Chambers St (J,Z), and Park Place (2,3) stay open. Some bus routes will be diverted, so check https://t.co/LAQiaqN3hJ. After the parade, the MTA is prepared to add trains on the A, J, and 1 lines based on crowds.
🚆 METRO-NORTH & LIRR
Metro-North is adding trains to bring fans in. On the Hudson Line, an extra train departs Greystone at 7:49 AM and reaches Grand Central at 8:29 AM. On the Harlem Line, an extra train departs North White Plains at 7:32 AM and arrives at 8:19 AM. On the New Haven Line, an extra train departs Stamford at 6:52 AM and arrives at 7:53 AM, with seven trains making extra stops between 5:47 and 7:46 AM. Frequent service runs until about 2 AM to get everyone home. An alcohol ban is in effect on Metro-North and LIRR, on trains and platforms, from 5 AM Thursday to 5 AM Friday.
⛴️ NYC FERRY
If you plan on taking NYC Ferry to the parade area, we recommend boarding a ferry departing before 9 AM and arriving at the landing early. Visit https://t.co/NBoYcGXf5b for real-time schedules and alerts.
⛴️ STATEN ISLAND FERRY
Service runs every 15 minutes from 7 to 9 AM and 1 to 4 PM to bring Staten Islanders to the celebration.

All attendees are screened and pens open at 6 AM. No bags allowed. Also prohibited: glass or metal water bottles (plastic is fine), bats and batons, bicycles, scooters, chairs, coolers, drones, backpacks, pets, strollers, umbrellas, and weapons.
