@melanie__gold @JayWamsted Not a teacher, but we definitely do not celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s a day of mourning for us. It feels like teachers are a bit more open-minded vs when I was younger. Love the idea of a recipe swap!
@bookcreatorapp my 7 yr old dysgraphic child finally got his assistive technology from @NYCSchools & made his 1st book. Have some Qs, how can I reach out? Great product! VERY motivated kid! https://t.co/z3zCb6lp07 thanks!
@Mssarahmssarah I want my fully vaccinated 7 year old twins tested regularly (had vax in August thanks to trials). Can we still opt-in or is it automatically out of pool?
This was amazing and let's me know our grassroots orgs are carrying on the tradition of mutual aide that our ancestors and elders did before us! We keep us safe! @_BlackPolicyLab thank you so much for this session and conference.
One my students was flagged as “chronically absent.” Her father passed away three weeks ago, she had to move and did I mention her father passed away? But by all means, keep celebrating perfect attendance 😤
Their employers treated them as trash. Abused them. Put their lives at risk. Now our children suffer and they are shocked they don’t want to put up it it anymore? Our children deserve more. Yet @NYCSchools continues to pay bloated contracts. Shameful!
A recently retired school bus driver commented, “I loved my job, but the disregard for us and the attendants and mechanics is too much--including the way all 15,000 were laid off in May 2020. Until school bus jobs are turned back into careers, there will be shortages.”
Over the week a desperate plea from a state funded school for high needs autistic children was circulating. So many vacancies…teachers, related services, para…even a custodian. Shameful. These children matter. PAY living wages to professionals.
Special education teachers are leaving their jobs for higher-paying positions, a consequence of the state’s unequal funding. Alex Nguyen reports on the effects the underfunding has had on both teachers and the students they serve. https://t.co/0kah3Wj44c
Why we march...CEC17 president Erika Kendall, who co-hosted Fri forum, declared, “These problems impact general education students as well as students with disabilities. Schools in our district are angry. We are tired of the piecemeal approach--we want systemwide solutions!”
@safeschoolsny@BrianLehrer@NYCMayor It’s actually a bit of a turn-off for me. Grateful for an easy 1st shot, but i need to hunt for shot 2? Many pop-up sites have come back for a second day 3 wks later. Not rocket science.
@nycpa@merylnyc@JumaaneWilliams@bradlander They need you now. They are in far-flung hotels. No food. No medical equipment. No clothes. They need housing in their community. They need legal representation now. DM open.
Yesterday, your constituent, @NycProtect reached out, asking for help for those impacted by the fire. Please respond now. The situation is dire!
@JumaaneWilliams@nycpa@bradlander The elections are over, time to get boots on the ground for the people who need you!
There’s a mom w/an asthmatic 3yo who need help. They lost everything in the fire.

They were sent to shelters far from where they live, & cannot get to work. They need a housing attorney.
Thank you to @pspnyinc@ForOurBabies76@surprisewendy other allies for standing up for the mothers, children & elderly left homeless by 222 Lenox Rd fire today. While they are safe, they’ve lost everything.
