Could you please elaborate on the unbelievably high prices of fines for missing out on the deboarding station?

I was travelling from Mumbai to Hyderabad and I missed out on doboarding at Secunderabad and had to get off at the next stop.

@SrDCMSC @drmsecunderabad @RailwaySeva I could have been at a deficit at the moment, and someone else might actually be in a deficit to pay such hefty fees.

I really hope you consider all the angles before justifying that 1300 charge for just one stop and 20kms is legit.

If I were to travel half the distance or say to another city altogether then yes, that is still justifiable.

I barely deboarded at the next station in the SAME city.

It was a genuine mistake as I missed the station and I was prepared to pay the difference in fare, maybe a fine that was understandable.

But charging more than 50%?

If this is justified then I suppose railways need to be renamed as Rail Mafia for extortion of heavy amounts of money from general public.

I tried filing a complaint via 139 but as soon as I make the selection the call is disconnected instantly.

I am aware I would need to pay thw difference in fare at the station.
But the station TTE charged me 1300INR for a mere 20km extra travel.

My journey ticket fare was 2100 and I paid more than half the amount just for 20kms.

Does this make sense to you?

@OSRTC_Odisha Please hire polite and non-rude drivers and clarify the issue with online and offline bookings. If the ticket is booked onlone the drivers and helpers show another level of attitude saying any issue is none of their headache.
