All roads around the Langdale Moor wildfire will reopen from 6:30pm (Monday 1 September). This includes the A171 between Whitby and Scarborough and the B1416, however a 30mph speed limit is in place on sections of both roads to keep everyone safe.

Please stick to this speed limit as the fire is still ongoing and emergency services are still working in the area. There may be smoke reducing visibility, mud on the road from the ongoing work and our sweepers may be on the road cleaning this up.

Laybys will be closed, please keep moving and do not stop to look at the fire.

Police will be patrolling the area.

As the fire continues at Langdale there are several road closures in place for everyone’s safety & to allow the emergency services access to the area.

Sadly a man has died following a collision which occurred on the A64 near Crambeck in the early hours of this morning.

At 10am this morning we joined together to pay respects to PC Rosie Prior.

At HQ, CC Tim Forber made an address which was followed by a minute’s silence before a reading from our Chaplain, the REV Philip Rogerson.
