Four years ago today, we lost our @NYPDHighway Unit 3 brother, P.O. Anastasios Tsakos, after he was struck and killed by a drunk driver while directing traffic on the Long Island Expressway. A beloved father, husband and colleague, P.O. Tsakos was taken from us far too soon. May he continue to rest in peace. #FidelisAdMortem

"Yesterday, members of Highway Patrol were seen assisting in a multi-agency operation targeting Ghost Plates. Numerous summonses were issued and vehicles towed for observed violations."

This weekend, members of Highway 1, @nypd44pct & @nyspolice conducted a joint operation. The goal was to combat the community's complaints of motorcycles/mopeds operating recklessly and being used in violent crimes. The operation yielded numerous summonses, seizures & arrests.

Last night, Highway 1 CO attended the @nypd44pct Community Council meeting. Topics discussed included: pedestrian safety, dangers of speeding and collision investigations. @NYPDTransport

Today we honored Detective Tsakos of Highway 3 and his wife, Irene, by presenting a plaque and a replica helicopter used in the NYPD bearing her husband’s name. We will #neverforget. Thank you to @NYPDTransport @QueensDAKatz @NYPDSpecialops @NYPDStPauls @NYPDTransit

We will #NeverForget Patrolman Daniel Sullivan, assigned to Motorcycle Squad 2, who succumbed to his injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on this day in 1937.

This past Saturday night members of Hwy Patrol were seen enforcing speeding and reckless driving infractions on highways in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

Over the weekend Hwy 5 Det Cerbone received the Above and Beyond Award from the Seton Foundation for bringing holiday cheer to the school’s special needs children for the last 12 years and in appreciation of his 41 years of service! Congratulations!

This Women’s History Month, we honor Police Officer Ocasio and her K-9 partner, Taso, who serve side by side in the NYPD Transit Bureau K-9 Unit. Officer Ocasio’s dedication exemplifies the strength and leadership of women in law enforcement.
