I had the privilege of meeting with @McKamyMS student Abigail Dressell about her ideas related to Autism Advocacy. Thank you Abigail for your positive leadership and initiative to make a difference! @LewisvilleISD
PLEASE VOTE for Mason Johnson. We just found out he’s nominated and we are far behind and need your help. It only takes a few seconds to vote! Voting ends Monday at 7pm.

Instead of limiting students to following a lock-step writing process where everyone moves at the same pace, encourage Ss to follow a process that works for them. This will increase independence and agency and provide a more authentic writing experience #LiteracyTipTuesday
One thing I've changed that has been helpful: use AND instead of BUT when giving feedback.
It's not, "You're doing this thing well BUT not this thing."
It's, "You're doing this thing well, AND here's your next step."
BUT negates what comes before it, while AND builds on it.
@ModestTeacher I have to disagree! Every @AVID4College Summer Institute I've been to has made me a better teacher by miles! Their immersive experience has, in some years, been life-changing!
One of my students took up origami at the start of COVID, & she still folds & creates throughout the day at school. I don't think she has any idea how much it makes me smile when she leaves one of her pieces behind for me after class. I'm building quite the collection!
Grading essays right now. I asked students to add a note after uploading their work: What are you most PROUD of in this piece? I must keep doing this! Such a positive way to start assessing work, even pieces that are pretty rough around the edges 😃
@JJWatt I know you like to help kids. Would you please share our Christmas Wish for our students? Our students do not have winter coats. They are all new and have not lived in cold climates and do not have the proper clothes. Thank you! https://t.co/tZE4sPRvwM
Dichos and Proverbs for this year’s classroom contract. I am so excited to have had so much family participation. @NEDRPE2E @LHSHarmon @TonyFontana24 @plunkett_andy Thank you @JuanitaRR_PhD for sharing the importance of Dichos to family culture. #restorativepractices#ESOL
August 22, 1920: Science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury is born!
"We are an impossibility in an impossible universe."
"Write only what you love, and love what you write. The key word is 'love'. You have to get up in the morning and write something you love, something to live for."
AVID SI 2019 has been great! I can’t wait to implement these strategies for blending technology into instruction next year! @LewisvilleISD@AVID4College@JillAdamsjh
