No, purple shampoo doesn't turn your hair purple! Purple is opposite to yellow on the color wheel. Which is why the violet pigments in purple shampoo neutralize the brassy yellow under tones seen in blonde hair. A common colorant used is Ext. D&C Violet No. 2 (Ci 60730).
