The DOCCS Suffolk Area Office recently hosted a Friends & Family Open House, bringing together releasees, their loved ones, and community partners. Attendees gained valuable insights into reentry services, legal aid, and other vital resources.

Congratulations to Recruit Class 2026-02 who graduated on July 10, 2026. DC D'Amore gave the keynote address. The 75 Correction Officer graduates will now head to on-the-job-training at their direct placement facilities, thanks to the Department’s current Recruitment Initiative.

DOCCS honors the memory of the 43 colleagues who have died in the line of duty since 1861. On July 11, 1861, Clinton Keeper Augustus T. Wright was struck with an iron bar during an attack at the iron ore processing plant when 7 incarcerated individuals escaped from the prison.

Staff at Wyoming CF collected donations then participated in a 20+ mile bike ride in the "Ride for Roswell." Collectively, more than $6.3 million was raised for the Roswell Park Cancer Center. The team's dedication reflects a commitment to supporting cancer patients and families.

The Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady Reentry Task Forces hosted a Tri-County Providers Fair, bringing together parole officers, DOCCS staff, and community-based organizations. County Reentry Task Forces help ensure releasees are connected to essential community resources.

DOCCS’ Utica Area Office hosted a Friends & Family Open House. Several speakers and presenters discussed employment and reentry services. By bringing together families, providers, and staff, the event highlighted the importance of a strong support network in successful reentry.

In support of our commitment to transparency and accountability, DOCCS has partnered with Recidiviz to launch the Population Under Custody Dashboard, providing direct public access to population data that historically required formal requests.

DOCCS honors the memory of the 43 colleagues who have died in the line of duty since 1861. On June 22, 1916, Sing Sing Officer Daniel J. McCarthy was shot by an escaping incarcerated individual who was awaiting execution. The individual was recaptured and executed 8 days later.
