TOP Interview from the last day of shooting for Thanos in ‘Squid Game’, from December 2nd, 2023 💜

Q1. Since it's your final day, what kind of shoot is it today?
🔝: I am shooting scenes for the character I played in ‘Squid Game”, Thanos. Because I poured a tremendous amount of effort and energy into designing this character, I grew very attached to him. Thinking about letting this character go makes me feel a little sad, and it also brings up a sense of sympathy.

Q2. How does this final day of filming feel different compared to the very first day of ‘Squid Game’?
🔝: Back during the first days of filming, to be honest... I was in a state where a heavy sense of responsibility and anxiety coexisted, wondering, "When will this ever end?" and "Can I actually pull this off well?"
Now, I just feel intensely proud. There is also a sense of anticipation wondering, "How will people react once this is released?" and I'm spending these days filled with a lot of hope. Plus, perhaps because my heart has grown a bit, I've come to discover a brand-new sense of fun, joy, and exhilaration in acting. It feels as though I've been reborn as a completely new actor, making this a project where I truly learned so much.

Q3. How was it working with the director?
🔝: Working with Director Hwang Donghyuk made me realize that he is doing truly great art unlike anything I've ever experienced before. I received an incredible amount of inspiration, and witnessing firsthand that it is precisely because of such strong leadership that a creation like this can be made taught me so much, even as a music producer.

Q4. What are your plans after the final shoot wraps up?
🔝: Once filming for ‘Squid Game’ officially wraps, I will return once again as musician and rap producer T.O.P, and continue writing new music. Throughout this filming process, I got so excited about creating art as a musician. Expecting to use the inspiration I gained here to create brand-new things, I plan to immerse myself fully in music production and continuously brainstorm new songs and music videos to share with all of my fans.

🔝: “Hello everyone, this is TOP. How have you all been? I was reminded of the time, 10 years ago, when I read a letter on stage.
Back then, we made a promise to each other: if there was ever a goodbye, there would surely be a reunion—and that I would definitely come back.
It took us a long 10 years to fulfill that promise.

During this past year, living not as the artist TOP, but simply as an ordinary person, there were times when I felt free and at ease. But at the same time, it was also a period when I felt incredibly lonely and isolated.
Even so, I wanted to keep my promise to all of you. With that determination in my heart, I continued making music.
And I think these past 10 years were also a time when, as the person named Choi Seunghyun, I repeatedly faced and spoke with my inner self.

In the past, on stage, I would say words like ‘Thank you’ and ‘I love you’ as though they were simply a given.
But during the time I spent away from the stage, I came to understand for the first time, truly from the bottom of my heart, just how immense and precious the unconditional love you have given me really is.

The reason I was able to get through this long period of time and find the courage to stand before you once again today is entirely because of your unwavering love and support.
Although I wasn’t able to meet you directly, I searched for and read, one by one, the words left behind by the fans who never forgot me and continued waiting.”
