@PaulTassi The rare large company that understands the Streisand Effect.
Asked a few of my PC gamer friends what they thought about the leaks and they had vaguely heard about the situation but didn't know if it was a hoax so didn't care.
Twitter is a bubble!
@Shwinnabego I really enjoy your content on tiktok (beefing with portnoy over scamwatches! cpg strategy breakdowns!) but am surprised how quiet your twitter presence is by comparison.
I guess TikTok does a better job of surfacing you to the right audience.
@mikeMaher@sportstalkmatt Funny thing is you were the target demo: optimizing for business travelers is a big driver of rising prices
Price tolerance is a lot higher if you're expensing your pizza
I read this quote that said, "it's a credit to your character that you do not understand why people do unkind things. So instead of despairing over it and picking apart someone's lack of compassion and consideratión towards you, celebrate the fact that yours is abundant enough to never treat people that way." & those words are just so freeing.
Despite all the times my parents admonished me to: “think before you act”, I’ve learned that for an entrepreneur, the opposite is true.
When you are doing something that hasn’t been done before, no amount of thinking is going to tell you how to do it.
You’ve got to try something, see what happens, and learn from it.
The best entrepreneurs think less and do more. Making mistakes is part of the job. Whenever I’m asked “what was your biggest mistake?” I’m unable to come up with anything because I no-longer think of my failed experiments as mistakes.
They are just “learning opportunities”.
Friendly, periodic reminder that regarding AI everyone is trying to manipulate and influence you. Nobody is telling you the full story. Nobody is being fully forthcoming and honest. There is too much money at stake. This is the big one. Keep your head screwed on. Stay vigilant
Brand x Speed x Distribution X Cleverness = Defensibility
There was nothing preventing Unilever from making Gruns, P&G from making Native, or Pepsi from making Poppi. The formulas, manufacturers, packaging formats, and acquisition channels are available to anyone w/ an internet connection.
Much of traditional "Business Strategy" and competitive frameworks were constructed in a pre-internet, pre-social, pre-algorithmically driven era.
Decades ago, control of distribution, capital and physical infra created much stronger advantages than they do today, which makes now a great time to be building.
And most importantly, unlike software, consumer is never winner-take-all. There are 20 energy drink brands >$1bn. Consumer markets are big.
If you’re excellent at getting things done, consistent, and super-reliable, but aren’t getting to the next level as a leader, chances are extremely high that it’s because you are not simulating before communicating.
@JayLen3434@krystalball I saw the context and he basically said 'we don't need to regulate data centers, you can just vote representatives who cut bad deals out'
if voting reps out was an effective deterrent this problem wouldn't exist in the first place.
naive at best, cynically misleading at worst.
@ryangrim @jstein_notus @LukewSavage Most of the public cares more about data centers and risk of a 2008-style correction, AI safety isn't top of mind.
Many early adopters have been rolling their eyes at reports of AI jailbreak/safety issues as thinly-veiled marketing ("our models are DANGEROUSLY good 😏")
