@historical_Afr Like the all black Harlem Hellfighters who in WW1 were the first Allied unit in the war and to cross the Rhine, the French asked them as a token of appreciation for their valor. That they were given the French Croix de Guerre for bravery but not recognize in the USA until 2015.
