The Fed paused its interest rate hiking campaign to gauge the impact of its 10 rate increases on inflation and the overall health of the U.S. economy. In May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said consumer prices rose by 4%, less than half of the 9.1% peak from June 2022.

This may have influenced the Fed's decision to hold the line on rates, at least for now. Historically, investors tend to become a bit more "risk on" when the Fed has paused rates, which can benefit stock prices. But remember, investing involves risks.
