One year ago today, more than 100 lives were cut short in Kerr County and even more across Central Texas due to devastating flash floods.

Tonight, I joined the Symphony of the Hills and read the names of 119 lost souls. We must never forget them.

The Kerrville community rose from this tragedy the same way our nation has risen from every trial.

That enduring spirit will ensure that our communities and our great nation will forever prevail.
