Ode Itsekiri is not Warri township.
Warri township belongs primarily to the Uhrobo people, hence they have two big royal households and territories. Agbassa and Okere Urhobo. This is the fact.
The Itsekiri people own Ode Itsekiri, a beautiful, tiny and swampy enclave. This is not a surprise because they migrated from the Benin river.
However growth and development over the years have seen both towns coalesce to look like one just like in Lagos, one can hardly tell LG areas from eachother.
This is why the jekri are claiming Warri as theirs, when in fact the area belongs to all 3 tribes, majorly the Urhobo, Ijaw and jekri.
This is the situation in simple terms in that geographical area.
Even the ancestral jekri palace is in Ode Itsekiri not where it currently is which is an Urhobo land.
The Olu's palace in Warri is in a rented land not in the ancestral land in Ode Itsekiri.
The recent INEC delineation result proves that in the 3 LGAs of Warri, the jekri are a very small minority with just 18 wards in total.
No one is oppressing them, they have been the one subsuming their neighbors over the years with the questionable and wrong change of Olu of Itsekiri title to Olu of Warri.
Any delegation who goes to the field will immediately see first hand the communities of the 3 tribes and easily can decide just as the @inecnigeria has done.
We don't want another crises in that area, these jekri groups should be warned and impressed upon to cease and desist their attacks and provocations because all they know how to do is attack soft targets, old men and women, burn their houses and do all sorts, afterwards they claim they have won a war.
