Ex Fishermen now one of a number of leaders for the fishing industry in Scotland. Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer. RTs. not endorsements
Last night, I attended the Scottish Fishing Federation dinner.
The message was clear. Renewables must not be to the detriment of our long-standing and world-class fishing industry.

@TheOpenSeas Your organisation and accusations are an utter disgrace. Use facts or don’t make the accusations. Your shots at the catching sector are becoming cheaper by the day.
As I prepare to leave my position as Chair of @ICES_ASC Advisory Committee- I wish to thank the ACOM leadership. We would not have made such progress without their insights, dedication & drive. #ICESASC23
The SNP’s reckless plans to ban fishing in 10% of Scotland’s waters would ruin livelihoods and devastate coastal communities.
The SNP-Green government must listen to the fishing industry, go back to the drawing board, and create a scheme that works for coastal communities.
I’m taking part in the Ford Ride London-Essex 100 mile cycle event this Sunday. I’m riding as a member of the Alzheimer’s Society team to raise funds. My twitter friends can support that cause by donating to my just giving page many tks #sorebumtime

To help the Alzheimer’s raise money I have signed up to complete the Ride London 100 mile cycle event on the 28th of May. It would be great if you could help them reach their goal by donating to my fund raising page https://t.co/8fPMOyOffS
@Mark_Spencer fishermen are looking for you to settle on a pragmatic approach on Anglerfish in areas iv and vi. Decreasing the TAC by 30% for two years when abundance is increasing is wrong. Shouldn’t be a political football in negotiations.

The Scottish White Fish Producers Association are hiring. We are looking for a Fisheries Policy Officer. check out the post on.

@Bluemarinef Or that fishermen introduce numerous closed areas each year to protect spawning cod, or that we left tens of thousands of tons of haddock in the sea last year and this year to reduce the impact on cod
@Bluemarinef Interesting that ICES advice allows fir an increase in North Sea Cod by up to 44% and that the same ICES is to look at the high possibility that the northern, west of scotland cod population is the same as northern North Sea. Don’t hear you mentioning that?
Once again we find MCS creating media headlines through Dodgy ratings in its good fish guide. Providing guidance to the public on what and what not to eat is fine so long as their is no hidden agenda and misleading info. Eat Northern Monkfish with confidence. #sustainable
I'm supporting British-ukrainian Aid’s fundraising appeal. It’s a charity that means a lot to me - they do amazing work! You can check out their JustGiving page to see what they're doing and why. Please donate if you can! https://t.co/29O8hIuKuK
@ScotGovFM@scotgov It would be good to see a Marine Fund established on the back of the offshore wind auction. Initiatives such as improving fisheries science is perhaps one area that should benefit. It would be wrong to ignore those that loose out - Fishers
