Before his heroics over the weekend, Mizak Asante was on the radar of Manchester United, Juventus, Manchester City and Genk.
Taking inspiration from @ASAMOAH_GYAN3 and Kylian Mbappe, he says it's no wonder goal for him but something he does regularly.

Beyond comfort lies craft.
On the 2nd of January this year, while still enjoying my New Year holidays in the farms, I received a call from the CEO of Angel FM. The request was for me to sit in as morning show host as an interim measure. Even for me, that sounded implausible.
One week passed. Two weeks. One month. Four months. Now a complete year in an area I had barely chattered.
Thus, for the first since 2007, Iโve gone a full year without a sport broadcast. Unbelievable.
Transitioning from a full-blown sports host to hosting a morning current affairs show in Accra of all places felt like leaving the known shore to test deeper waters.
Nonetheless, here are some few critical social issues we resolved to address on the show in year under review.
1. Our teamโs journey to Abrewa Nni Nkran, the notorious hidden Galamsey village in the Western Region. Two weeks later, security forces destroyed the base.
2. Our collaboration with the Agric Science Institute on the chemicalization of vegetables by farmers in Ghana. The FDA took the matter up.
3. The interview with some Senior High School students revealing the heinous activities on campus including menstruation sex with Romance Scammers known as โRainbowโ. GES called for the reinstatement of PTA in schools which has been done
4. The discussion on high cost of imorted cars in Ghana with key Car Dealers revealing the underworld of the industry. That discussion generated over 6million views across our platforms.
5. Possibly one of the most important issues on the show was our two weeklong discussions on the treatment of dead bodies at funerals in Ghana.
The Health Ministry issued a directive warning against the public display of dead bodies during funeral rites, and tasked the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency to enforce the directive. The practice has since reduced.
6. We tackled the illicit use of the substance called โWonnim Redโ. We interviewed two abusers of the drug who later underwent rehabilitation and became ambassadors against RED nationwide.
7. Our focus shifted to security recruiment in the country recommending that the current system of long winding queues be abolished, initial stages be done digitally and sale of forms scrapped.
Unfortunately, three days after our last discussion of the topic, the unfortunate El Wak disaster happened.
8. Cost of internet data.
9. Transport challenges and suggestion of government arranging buses on key routes in Accra to ease the pressure on commuters.
9. Domestic Air transport cost.
10. Perhaps the most impactful of all, our resolve to clamp down on the activities of โQNET scamโ. Following a series of broadcasts, our team collaborated with officers of the NIB and Immigration as well as Ghana Police service.
So far, more than 600 youth trapped in Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Liberia have been rescued and reunited with their families.
Itโs been an extremely difficult but terrific journey.
One Year at CAF: A Journey of Purpose, Growth & Storytelling
One year ago, I walked through the doors of CAF with equal parts excitement and purpose.
I knew the responsibility wasnโt just about managing media, it was about telling the story of African football with the weight, dignity, and pride it deserves.
What I didnโt know was how this would stretch and refine me.
In 12 months, Iโve seen football unite people across languages, borders and beliefs.
Iโve lived through multiple late-night strategy calls at 2am, complex moments that demanded clarity, and headlines that reminded us why the work matters.
Iโve learned that the world may not always see the process, but it always feels the impact.
As Media Relations Manager, my role has been to shape, protect and elevate CAFโs voice across Africa and the world. It requires a blend of strategic judgment, diplomacy, cultural awareness and clarity under pressure.
Every day demands the ability to balance speed with accuracy, manage complex narratives, build trusted relationships with journalists, and keep the organizationโs story centred on credibility.
What Iโve brought to the role is a commitment to excellence, consistency and intentionality, the ability to simplify complexity, anticipate issues before they unfold, navigate sensitive moments with calm, and ensure CAFโs messaging remains clear, and aligned with our broader ambitions.
If this year taught me anything, it is this:
โข You can do it.
โข Make it a deliberate effort to be constantly good at what you do.
โข Excellence compounds.
โข โ Consistency wins.
Gratitude
To everyone who trusted me, challenged me, and supported me, THANK YOU! A special thank you to Luxolo September for the opportunity to serve.
Hereโs to another year of storytelling, growth, and contributing to the rise of African football.
African football is rising and Iโm grateful to still be in the room where the story is written.
If you want to explore the work the incredibly talented Comms team at CAF are doing to elevate African football globally, Iโm always open to a conversation. Iโd be glad to share how CAF is helping to sustain interest in African football across our 54 Member Associations.
Looking forward to connecting with many of you in the months ahead, and to continuing the shared work of shaping how African football is seen, covered and celebrated.
Thank you to all the journalists and creators I work with daily, for the support, collaboration and meaningful exchanges throughout this journey.
