One Barrister Godwin (Laborious) Oshoma and his fellow rent-a-mouth online brigade wants the public to believe that Nnamdi Kanu is doing something “dangerous” by merely pointing out that the government has no valid law to try him with.

Think about that for two seconds.

What lawyer Oshoma is basically saying is this: “Even if the prosecution has no real case, Kanu should help them fabricate one.”

Which law school taught him that?

In Nigeria, even a first-year law student knows this: No valid law = No crime = No trial = Accused Go home.

If the Nigerian government wants to jail someone like Nnamdi Kanu, they must show:

A real law that exists today
A real offence defined in that law
Real evidence that fits the offence
Right now the Nigerian government and their Biafra and Kanu hating battalion have: 

• A repealed law
• Imaginary charges
• And a judge (Omotosho) pretending not to notice that Section 122 of Evidence Act is a law in Nigeria.

Who do they think they are fooling? Kanu is too smart for them. Kanu asked Awomolo SAN, a very simple question; show me the law under which I am being tried and read it aloud so Justice Omotosho can record it as part of the proceedings of court, Chief Awomolo declined because he knows Kanu has caught them in the jugular. 

Only Oshoma thinks that looks like a proper trial.

He says Kanu is relying on the “case of the prosecution.” Yes, exactly. That is how criminal justice works everywhere on Earth. The prosecution carries the burden. The accused is not a co-prosecutor.

Once the prosecution’s case falls apart, the accused does not need to dance. He simply sits down and says: “Show me the law I broke.”

Till today, they cannot.

So Oshoma wants you to blame the man asking the right question instead of the people with no answer.

That is like arresting someone for “stealing the moon” and when he asks for the law against moon-stealing, you scream: “Stop being clever! Follow us to prison!”

The real danger is not Kanu’s legal argument.
The real danger is a Nigerian lawyer publicly preaching ignorance and calling it expertise.

If the government truly has a case, they should file a valid charge.
Not recycle a dead law and hope the public cannot read.
