2. National Automotive Council levy: 15%

3. Value-added tax (VAT): 7.5%

4. Port surcharge: 7%

5. FOB valuation charge: 4%

6. ETL tax: 1%

7. CISS fee: 1%

8. 2% green tax applicable to vehicles with engines under 1.5T displacement

9.Other payable costs include customs value assessment adjustment, destination port handling fees of USD 15 per cubic meter, customs clearance agency fees, document fees and various miscellaneous charges.

In 2007, a presidential panel recommended that five serving state governors be barred from ever holding public office again in Nigeria. The governors were Bola Tinubu, Orji Uzor Kalu, Chimaroke Nnamani, Ali Modu Sheriff, and Ibrahim Shekarau.

According to P.M. News:

▶️ The five-member Administrative Panel of Inquiry on Alleged Corrupt Practices screened a list of 135 politicians indicted by the EFCC and advised that the five governors be prosecuted after leaving office.

▶️ Uzor Kalu of Abia State, Nnamani of Enugu, Sheriff of Borno, and Shekarau of Kano were accused of rampant corruption, and Tinubu was accused of false asset declaration.

▶️ The panel did not make a pronouncement on Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who was also among the 135 politicians named by the EFCC.

▶️ The recommendation threatened Orji Kalu’s reported presidential ambition and cast doubt on the second-term bids of Shekarau and Sheriff, both of the ANPP.

▶️ All those affected denied wrongdoing and described the process as a witch-hunt. Tinubu maintained that he had never been interrogated and said there was no basis for the allegation against him.

▶️ At the time of this P.M. News report, President Obasanjo had constituted another panel to prepare a white paper on the panel's findings.

Years later, one of them is the President of the country.
