The SECAC2025 (Cincinatti) call for papers is now out. If your work touches on art and the law, consider contributing to our panel on "Incendiary Copying: Artists in Conflict Over Intellectual Property." Here's the CFP. Oh, and please help to spread the word! #ArtHistory
Had a fun evening watching MSState women score five great goals against Mizzou. During lulls in the game, we looked up and enjoyed the sight of nighthawks swirling around, feeding on all the insects lured in by the floodlights. Different types of feeding frenzies. @HailStateSOC
Recently visited Prince--I mean KING--Charles's Poundbury. If you're unaware of the place's royal connections, then the massive sculpture of the Queen Mother is your clue!
Back from the "Art of History" conference at Nottingham Uni. Very much enjoyed meeting everyone and presenting on Norman Rockwell's images of Abraham Lincoln. There may be some sort of publication emerging from the conference, so look out for that!
The children in Wright's painting draw our attention to an eclipse--possibly (one imagines) the topic of the lecturer's talk. Love the original, full title of the work: "A Philosopher giving that Lecture on the Orrery in which a lamp is put in place of the Sun."
"As well, it supplies Aix, which until now owned no works by the artist, with its very first Cézanne." Except there are four Cezannes at the Musée Granet--two of which are on loan from the Musée D'Orsay. https://t.co/oq6qdQiUQk
