The U.S. Constitution's radical experiment in universal individual rights and limited government only functioned because it governed an exceptionally homogeneous population. When that homogeneity disappeared, the system's underlying vulnerability was exposed.

1790 Demographics:

80%+ white citizenry - and 100% control of Power
85-90% British Isles ancestry among whites (English/Scots-Irish/Scottish/Welsh)
98%+ Protestant Christian
Shared Anglo-Protestant cultural framework

This wasn't absolute uniformity, but it represented extreme homogeneity for any large polity. No rival ethnic or religious blocs existed within the citizen body capable of mounting particularist claims against the universalist framework.
Why Homogeneity Mattered
In this setting, treating individuals as abstract units with equal rights worked because:

Shared priors: Common cultural, moral, and religious assumptions
Low-stakes conflicts: Disagreements remained resolvable via shared norms
Externalized tribalism: Directed at Native Americans or managed through slavery
High baseline trust: Enabled voluntary cooperation with minimal coercion.
It was a homogeonous tribe, people and Nation with the same moral framework, the same operating system for understanding the world. Communication was more efficient and clear, low context loss, greater understanding, more clear intentions. A tribe that didnt know it was a tribe, with a universalized world. A System of morals, ethics, and laws by which to govern. The law?Who makes the law? Who holds the levers of power? The Constitution in it Origianl Form is the system of the WASP people. Followed by the Bill or Rights, because we believed every individual is sacred and soverign. Our system worked great for us internally, and the european legal system was spread to the world. Along with some economics systems. but I am getting off track.

The WASP Constitutional system's universalism appeared viable precisely because the population's particularism was already aligned or at least didn't contradict the universalist framework.

The Diversity Stress Test
Post-1965 demographic shift introduced groups outside the original Caucasian Christian substrate.

Lower civic engagement (voting, volunteering, charity)
"Hunkering down" phenomenon withdrawal even within same ethnic groups (white flight).

Why Universalist Institutions Fail Under Diversity
Universalist frameworks (equal rights, rule of law without group preferences) lack mechanisms to manage re-emergent tribalism when groups have divergent interests. Diversity is NOT and strength of a Nation.

Universalist Institutions assume:
There is a baseline trust that diversity undermines with dishonesty, deception, exploitation, scheme, corruption.
Shared norms of a high trust people no longer exist when diversity come. Japan is still a largely homogenous nation and they have social norms that diversity would destroy.
Loss of good faith argumentation, low trust dominates and the nation starts to fracture, to become blakanized. Political division widens and deepens. The US has been radically impacted by mass migration post 1965, in every metric. Political division is the worst is has ever been.

Result: Observable dysfunction, polarization, declining social capital, institutional strain, exactly as the mechanism predicts.

This argument doesn't claim homogeneity always produces libertarianism. Japan, pre-migration Nordics, and Confucian societies stayed homogeneous but developed collectivist systems, not atomized individualism.

The claim: This specific homogeneity (Anglo-Protestant, individualist-conscience tradition) enabled this specific universalist experiment to succeed temporarily, until the substrate changed.

Bottom line: The American constitutional experiment worked not because universalism transcends human nature, but because extreme homogeneity hid the mismatch between universalist institutions and tribal instincts. Diversity exposed what homogeneity concealed.

White people allowed all the non-whites to move in and participate in our universalism, but the rest of the world doest agree with our ideal of every individual being sacred and soverign. They also are extremely tribal and priotize their kin, which of course is human nature, unless you are mentally unwell and delusionally misaglined with reality. A healthy society makes a health next generation without importing massive diversity. We need unity not more division. The problem is the United States has far too much diversity, far too much tribalism. Is white Nationalism the Answer? Ethnic Nation States? A WASP Nation? The White Anglo Saxon Nation. We exist, we are the people of the constitution with roots to that culture. We do need our own Nation again.
