"Our hopes are high. Our faith in the people is great. Our courage is strong. And our dreams for this beautiful country will never die."
- Pierre Elliott Trudeau, 1984

The Spring Economic Update 2026 is now law.
That means real relief for Canadians: a break at the pump this summer, stronger support for skilled trades, and faster construction of the homes and infrastructure our communities need.
We are building a Canada that is strong for all. 🇨🇦
USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.
Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.
I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."
"They just come with the table, man."
They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.
This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.
I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.
"Did we…?"
"Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."
Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined.
My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."
Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.
I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.
Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.
I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.
Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
Let me add my voice to this: I have never heard the Prime Minister raise his voice to MPs. What I have experienced is the most open, transparent, consultative leader ever since being elected in 2008. Demanding? Yes. Inappropriate? Never. https://t.co/A4fj9zayd5
82 years ago, 14,000 Canadians landed on Juno Beach, many of whom would never come home.
On the anniversary of D-Day, we pause to honour those who served and sacrificed. We remember that our rights, our freedoms, and our way of life were fought for and were won by those who answered the call.
@jaxson@madisonmcla A missing tool in the toolbox for too long! I think perhaps also the basis of one of our first conversations on government financing gaps if I remember correctly… @jaxson
Merci pour toute une saison, @CanadiensMTL. Une équipe jeune, déterminée et bourrée de talent. Le meilleur est encore à venir, ce n’est que le début. Go Habs Go! 🇨🇦

Thank you for an exciting year of hockey @CanadiensMTL. Young, hungry and talented - we’ll be back. The Habs are just getting started. 🇨🇦
