REMINDER: San Francisco Spends $5–$16 Million Per Year On A Free Alcohol Program For Homeless Alcoholics, Reportedly Serving Just 65 People in Several Years:

San Francisco’s Managed Alcohol Program (MAP) receives $5 million per year in taxpayer funding to provide free alcohol to chronically homeless individuals with severe alcoholism.

Some reports place the true annual cost closer to $16 million once salaries and administrative expenses are included.

From 2020 to 2024, the program served just 65 people. Even at the lower $5 million figure, that’s over $300,000 per person. More than any all-inclusive resort.

The numbers are absolutely staggering, yet the program remains active. Where is the money going?
