Van Gogh painted 74 pictures during his last 70 days.
He had moved to Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris, in 1890. In that short stretch he painted fields, houses, gardens and people at a pace averaging more than one picture a day.
One of the best-known works from that period is Wheatfield with Crows. It's often called his last painting. But the Van Gogh Museum says he painted other works afterward, and Tree Roots is a more likely candidate.

@vidxn_ We were told education was the ticket to a better life. Now people have master’s degrees, student loans, and three roommates.
At least the diploma looks nice on the wall.
@RobertGreene I read The Laws of Human Nature, and it genuinely changed how I observe people, including myself. Your work has a way of making you question things you once took for granted. Thank you for that.
@DavidWolfe Copper killing bacteria is science. Rockefeller secretly ordering every hospital to remove doorknobs sounds like a deleted Scooby-Doo episode.
@DearS_o_n You can build a career, hit the gym, have your life together, and still want someone to share pizza with on a Friday night. That’s not weakness. That’s being human.
@AMAZlNGNATURE The wildest part is that an Instagram photo helped scientists discover it.
Imagine accidentally contributing to botany while trying to get a good vacation pic.
@JasonWilde108 The man spent his life searching for immortality, then supposedly got buried somewhere no one could find him.
He failed to live forever, but somehow became a 4,000-year-old missing persons case.
@mwoods357 Aang rides a flying bison, bends air, and talks to his past lives, but apparently the hardest thing to imagine is an Asian kid with light skin.
