A Capcom usou o rosto do lendário ator Toshiro Mifune para dar vida a Miyamoto Musashi em Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

E essa escolha não aconteceu por acaso: Mifune já interpretou o próprio Miyamoto Musashi nos cinemas, na clássica trilogia Samurai, iniciada em 1954.

O mais impressionante é que o ator faleceu em 1997. Quase 30 anos depois, a Capcom recriou digitalmente sua aparência utilizando a RE Engine.

Para isso, a empresa precisou conseguir autorização para utilizar a imagem de Mifune. Durante o desenvolvimento, materiais e diferentes versões do personagem foram enviados à família do ator, que participou do processo com aprovações, comentários e sugestões.

E a influência de Mifune vai além da aparência.

Hiroshi Yugen, líder da equipe de animação, revelou que os desenvolvedores estudaram os filmes do ator e outras produções de ação samurai como referência para criar um sistema de combate mais realista.

Ou seja: décadas depois de interpretar Musashi nos cinemas, Toshiro Mifune agora dá rosto ao lendário samurai nos videogames.

After Lynch was captured during the 2003 Iraq invasion, the media reported that the teenage soldier from West Virginia had fought fiercely against her Iraqi captors, firing until she ran out of ammunition, and had even been shot and stabbed multiple times. The Washington Post called her a “little girl Rambo” from West Virginia. Hollywood-style footage of U.S. forces raiding the Iraqi hospital where she was held was played on television stations across the country. But it later emerged that Lynch had not fought her captors, had not been shot or stabbed, and had been treated humanely by Iraqi medical staff, who even tried to return her to American forces but the Americans refused to take her back and instead staged an on-camera nighttime raid of the hospital, turning the spectacle into a Pentagon propaganda win. The U.S. neurosurgeon who treated Lynch found no evidence of gunshot wounds and testified that the Pentagon barred him from telling anyone.

Fascinating interview that demonstrates just how shallow Christopher Nolan is.

A Chinese interviewer confused by Nolan defiling his people's cultural inheritance asks him why he Christianised Homer's Odyssey, he says he hasn't really thought about it but Xenia sounded like the golden rule to him.

She asks him why Western filmmakers feel like they need to apologise for depicting greatness, he says we have to contextualise greatness now because we believe in equality and democratic values.

She asks him if the gods are real in his film and he says they seem real to people that believe in them.

It's actually incredible how little he seems to have thought about any of this. Every time he speaks it makes a mockery of every conservative cuck and midwit intellectual larper that acted like his film has some kind of esoteric message or is anything but the most trite Hollywood boomerslop.

It says a lot that the only person willing to question him on any of this was a Chinese podcaster.
