Speaker @ObothOboth, last evening hosted a delegation from the Church of Uganda at his home in Mukono.

The delegation led by the Archbishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu held discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between government and the Church aimed at advancing household transformation and promoting the well-being of communities across the country.

The religious leaders also congratulated the Speaker on his election and offered prayers for wisdom, strength and guidance as he takes up his new responsibility.

The other leaders who accompanied the Archbishop were, Rt Rev. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa (Bishop of Ankole Diocese), Rt Rev. Grace Lubaale (Bishop of Busoga Diocese), Rt Rev. Samuel Bogere Egesa (Bishop of Bukedi Diocese), Rt Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo (Bishop of Mukono Diocese), Canon Naboth Muhairwe (Provincial Chancellor) and Rev. Canon William Ongeng (Provincial Secretary).

Deputy Speaker @Thomas_Tayebwa this morning opened the 2nd sitting of the 8th National Youth Parliament taking place in the parliamentary chambers.

Tayebwa encouraged the youth leaders to use this platform meaningfully to uphold the ethos of democracy and contribute to the national aspirations and development of the country.

“Never underestimate the responsibility you carry. Speak for young entrepreneurs struggling to build businesses, graduates seeking employment, farmers seeking better opportunities, and young women seeking equal opportunities,” he said.

This sitting is part of the commemoration of International Youth Day under the theme: “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” #YouthParliament2026

The shortage of condoms has caused concern with the Uganda Network of AIDS Service Organisations (UNASO) appealing to government to address it.

Persons living with HIV/AIDS raised the issue while appearing before the Committee on HIV/AIDS, saying that this is affecting the fight against the disease.

They also raised concerns over the size of condoms being distributed, saying they have received complaints that many are too small, a factor they believe is discouraging proper use and contributing to the continued spread of HIV. #CommitteesUg

Ugandan migrant workers are living in distress as a result of labour externalisation pressures.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Vincent Bagiire who appeared before the Committee on Foreign Affairs chaired by Hon. Grace Kwiyucwiny, said that labour externalisation has driven up consular distress cases, repatriation and welfare demands especially in the Gulf region.

He called for a collaborative inter-ministerial effort to intensify sensitisation campaigns to curb human trafficking. #CommitteesUg
