Thinking about how Dreamworks would punish the animators who missed deadlines on The Prince of Egypt by making them work on Shrek which got known as getting ‘Shreked’.
its kind of hilarious how random Indian superstitions are ... "you owe transgenders large sums of money to celebrate births and weddings or else you will have perpetual bad luck"
This was the guy who got jailed for shooting the lunatic who threw boiling water at him. Just a normal every day cop.
Died of advanced colon cancer. Everyone in the replies is celebrating his death. Sad state of affairs.
“Dude you haven’t been to Nomad Kitchen?!
Pickled watermelon rind on the burger, birthday cake IPA on the side. And yes they DoorDash (for those days when you can’t even).”
It’s hard to convey to people who haven’t seen this stuff just how rife it is in the humanities and social sciences today. I remember going to Cambridge to study anthropology and thinking I would be asking big questions about human nature and bizarre rituals and customs, but all of that stuff had largely stopped by the 1970s and been replaced with the most absurd navel-gazing postmodern crap about “identity,” “the colonial critique” and “reflexive anthropology.”
Worst of all, by far, is “autoethnography,” where the social scientist becomes the object of study and reflects on their own experience doing research or just talk about their biography and background. It’s barely elevated above an early 2010s Tumblr blog and often it’s much much worse.
To call individuals frauds in disciplines like social anthropology is actually a red herring. It’s the disciplines themselves that are fraudulent. They need to be replaced wholesale.
