Firefighters successfully rescued/resuscitated a dog & a cat from a condo unit that had a kitchen 🔥 in the 200 block of Greensway Ave in Vanier. We responded at approx 17:13 & the first crew arrived in 3 min & found the kitchen on🔥 in a ground flr unit & it had extended to the cupboards. Fire crews had the 🔥 under control at 17:22, 5 min after arriving & prevented it from spreading to any other units. The residents were not home at the time of the fire. #OttNews

Extraordinary young man. Privileged to have seen Will’s growth over the years. He is a class act and a coach’s dream. Every team needs a Will Collins’ in their dressing room. Congrats Will!
For the first time in its 225 year history, the entire Baltimore City Fire Department is out of service.
In an incredible feat, coordinated by @MDMEMA, units from all corners of Maryland & DC will be covering calls so every BCFD member can attend the #BCFDFallenHeroes Service.

A great listen !
Firefighters have been left with the diseases resulting from occupational PFAS exposures. It has also been up to us to press litigation, change regulations, and find alternatives to these hazardous chemicals.
#PFAS is a problem, firefighters solve problems.
Your @IAFFPresident is working hard to make firefighter gear safe from the hazards of PFAS. I was honored to contribute to the Appeal on TIA 1594 for @NFPA 1971 with him and his Director of Science & Research Derek Urwin.

Working from home can make it hard to keep track of the days. Today is February 1st, that means it is time to test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms🚨.
Set a reminder in your calendar🗓️ or phone📲 for the 1st of every month to remind you to #TestYourAlarms once a month.
Proud to have members like the crew from Station 43D who organized our 2nd Annual Food Drive. Today they delivered 935 food items (purchased by on duty crews) to the @BritanniaWoods Food Pantry. @OttFire the spirit of giving runs deep!

Ottawa Fire Services challenges you to Wake Up! by testing your smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms. I challenge @JimWatsonOttawa to test his alarms and help keep our city safe and for him to challenge others. Mention @ottfireprevent include the tag #WakeUpOttawa#ottnews#ottfire
Thank You @ctvottawa for helping us dispel this myth. Alcohol based hand sanitizer in your vehicle is NOT a fire hazard. Always store sanitizer upright and in a sealed container to avoid leaks. #ottfire#ottnews
