FORGOTTEN NYC HISTORY: 100 years ago in 1926, the Brooklyn Eagle reported that Muslim New Yorkers booked a cafe in Manhattan’s Little Syria to mark Ramadan. Muslims from as far as Russia, Poland, Afghanistan, and Yemen—rich and poor—all ate together downtown.
