Foreign wars barely make an impact on US spending- defence as a whole is 14% of the budget. Benefits like social security and health make up vast majority of costs to taxpayers and will be the reason the government will go insolvent in the 2030s. Even if you cut all defence spending it wouldn’t make a dent. But no one wants to talk about that
