APC CONGRATULATES OUR VICTORIOUS CANDIDATES IN THE SEPTEMBER 19 LEGISLATIVE BYE-ELECTIONS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) congratulates our four victorious candidates in the five legislative bye-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The victorious candidates are Hon. Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Gombe State; Hon. Husseini Datti of Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, Kano State; Hon. Okolosi Ator of Udu State Constituency, Delta State; and Hon. Yakubu Ali of Disina State Constituency, Bauchi State.

This massive win is a solid demonstration of the Party’s organisational strength, grassroots support, and the confidence reposed in the APC by the electorate. Coming ahead of the 2027 general elections, the results demonstrate our Party’s wide acceptance, and strengthens our resolve to work assiduously for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of our great Party across the country.

The Party extends its profound appreciation to our teeming members, leaders, stakeholders, and campaign teams, particularly our supporters in Gombe, Kano, Delta, and Bauchi States, for their full faith and confidence in the APC. PETER OBI HAS NOWHERE TO HIDE OVER HIS POOR ANAMBRA RECORD

In the past four years, Mr Peter Obi and his supporters packaged Obi's tenure as Anambra governor as one defined by exceptional fiscal prudence, including the claim that he left Anambra without a debt burden. Obi himself was presented as a squeaky-clean politician.

But it has all emerged as a well-packaged lie.

The facade of falsehood built around Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, has now been torn to shreds, with Obi's persona deconstructed after disclosures by the Anambra State Government, which responded to Obi's challenge to verify his record.

According to the Anambra State Government, the former governor spent about USD 4.05 billion, or N5.4 trillion, over his eight years in office and contracted USD 123.77 million in external loans.

The state also revealed that, as of when Obi left office on March 17, 2014, there were eight different external borrowings for malaria, erosion control, education, and healthcare, and that subsequent administrations, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo's, continued to service the debt.

Borrowing is not injudicious if used for development. But for a man who prides himself on being austere and has frequently claimed he left the state with a clean bill of health, the revelations confirmed what has long been held: Obi is an irredeemable liar, a mediocre governor, unfit for leadership anywhere.

Even more confounding is that despite these borrowings, Obi has nothing to show for his stewardship across Anambra's sectors. He failed to pay workers' salaries in some ministries. Water Corporation staff were among those who protested over unpaid salaries.

In a memo to Obi, dated April 25, 2006, Chuks Ileogbunam, Obi's Chief of Staff, pleaded with the governor to pay the Water Corporation workers' N15m monthly salary to avoid protests at the Governor's office over unpaid salaries. Obi was then spending his second month in office.

"Since it is your excellency's unchanging desire to achieve a better future for our children and children's children, please, Sir, bear in mind that officials of the Water Corporation also have children who are looking to your compassionate leadership. The President listens with compassion to your appeals on behalf of the children of Anambra. I am 200 per cent sure that you will hearken to the cries of the children whose parents work for the Water Corporation and end their ordeal," Ileogunam pleaded in the memo.

Just as Obi promised to quit the presidential race if it was proven that he left a debt burden for Anambra State, the letter revealed that Obi had similarly promised Anambra people during his campaign that he would resign as governor "if there is any case where workers are not paid as and when due." Of course, he never meant to. He only deceived people into voting for him. When he left office in 2014, he left his successors with heavier arrears to clear.

We advise Obi to purge himself of his lies and seek the forgiveness of the Anambra people instead of galloping around platforms, parroting inanities. What should even be more concerning for Obi's followers is Obi's recent solidarity visit to someone facing an EFCC trial for unexplained wealth and monumental corruption.

Indeed, if Peter Obi has any honour, he must resign from the 2027 presidential race forthwith, in keeping with his promise to end his run if it is proven that his administration left behind liabilities in Anambra.

PARIS ICC ARBITRATION COURT RULING: ATIKU ABUBAKAR UNFIT FOR NIGERIA'S PRESIDENCY

Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress candidate, is unfit to be President of Nigeria because he has once again proven he will compromise Nigeria’s best interests for personal, fiduciary gain.

Abubakar’s legendary corruption reverberated in Paris at the International Arbitration Tribunal under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Hearings in the arbitration filed by Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Ltd (Sunrise) and Leno Adesanya over the stalled 3960mw Mambila Hydroelectric Power Project in Taraba State revealed that Abubakar and former power minister Olu Agunloye worked in cahoots to sign an illegal power contract with Sunrise.

The backdoor signing of the contract in the dying days of then President Olusegun Obasanjo’s first term, when Atiku wielded enormous power, put Nigeria in a serious financial peril, despite President Obasanjo’s objection and reservations at the Federal Executive Council meeting. 

Atiku’s greed, however, propelled him to disobey the council and President Obasanjo, months after Leno Adesanya, through an offshore account, China Castle Investment, wired $500,000 to the US Citibank account of his now-divorced wife, Jennifer Douglas. The money arrived in tranches, raising red flags at Citibank and in the United States. The wired money and other suspicious transfers totalling $40 million surfaced in a US Senate investigation into Atiku and other corrupt leaders.  In the US Senate report titled Keeping Foreign Corruption out of the United States: Four Case Histories, Jennifer said her husband sent the money. She said she was not familiar with the offshore company that wired the money.

Atiku’s treasonable act, after the Nigerian government declined to go ahead with the illegal contract, led Sunrise and Leno Adesanya to make a claim against the Federal Republic of Nigeria, demanding $680 million as a settlement sum and interest in respect of another arbitration in which it is claiming over $2.7 billion in compensation and interest relating to disputes associated with the development of the Mambilla  Hydro Power project.

As the ICC Paris Tribunal concluded: "There is a close connection in time between the moment the USD 500,000 payment was made to the wife of Vice-President Abubakar on 30 January 2003 and the alleged award of the BOT contract to Sunrise on 22 May 2003."

Nigeria fought valiantly to dodge this huge liability, echoing a similar attempt by another rogue company, Process and Industrial Development (P&ID), to extract an $11 billion claim from our country for a phantom gas project in Akwa Ibom that the company did not spend a dime on.

By collecting a $500,000 bribe from Leno Adesanya to approve a Build-Operate-Transfer contract to a company with no scintilla of experience in hydro power generation, Atiku has proven he is one of the enablers of local and international predatory and exploitative entities out to defraud our country.

At the hearing in Paris, Atiku, to avoid embarrassment, chose to stay away to give evidence in support of Sunrise and Leno Adesanya’s specious claim that the $500,000 was a foreign exchange transaction. Although the Tribunal requested Atiku’s witness statement, Adesanya shielded Atiku and Jennifer Douglas by lying. In contrast, President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Muhammadu Buhari went to Paris to defend Nigeria and help stave off a liability that our country can ill-afford to redeem in these lean times.

The disclosure in Paris once again justified President Obasanjo's scathing remarks about Atiku’s corruption in his book, My Watch. “ What I did not know”, the former Nigerian leader wrote in the second part of the book, “which came out glaringly later, was his parental background, which was somewhat shadowy, his propensity to corruption, his tendency to disloyalty, his inability to say and stick to the truth all the time, a propensity for poor judgement, his belief and reliance on marabouts, his lack of transparency, his trust in money to buy his way out on all issues and his readiness to sacrifice morality, integrity, propriety, truth and national interest for self and selfish interest.”

The APC Campaign calls on Abubakar Atiku to do himself a rare honour by bowing out of the presidential race, as the $500,000 bribe is just the tip of the iceberg of the revelations to come about his monumental corruption.

The people of Taraba State should also note that the ADC candidate, who plans to pull wool over our eyes and bamboozle his way to the presidency as a pro-petrol-subsidy candidate, is one of the people responsible for the stalled kick-off of what would have been the biggest hydro-power project in Nigeria, with many economic spin-offs for the people of the state.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) congratulates its National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Chukwumenonye Morka, CON, on his recognition by the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ) as the “Most Outstanding Political Marketing Communicator of the Year 2026.”

The coveted award, which will be conferred on the APC National Publicity Secretary at the NACJ Annual Integrity Lecture and Award Conference scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, is a fitting recognition of Morka’s stellar contribution to the articulation and communication of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC administration.

As the Party’s chief spokesperson, Morka has consistently demonstrated professionalism, clarity and intellectual depth in communicating the administration’s policies, programmes and achievements, while providing informed and effective responses to issues of national importance. His communication efforts have contributed to greater public understanding of key government reforms in many areas, including economic reform, infrastructure development, food security, social investment, national security and investment promotion.

The Party also recognises Morka’s nearly four decades of distinguished service in law, human rights advocacy, public policy, urban governance and democratic consolidation. As Founder and Executive Director of the Social and Economic Rights Action Center (SERAC), former Legal Officer for Africa of the Washington, DC-based International Human Rights Law Group, and former Legal Director of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), he has built a long and distinguished record of service in human rights, public interest and social justice advocacy. A veteran champion of the rights of the urban poor, Morka’s extensive engagements with the United Nations, UNAIDS, the World Bank, African Union, and other international human rights and development institutions, alongside an LL.M from Harvard Law School, have sharpened his expertise and effectiveness as a political communicator.

His contributions to nation-building, democracy and the rule of law were further recognised in 2025 when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred on him the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

The APC commends the NACJ for recognising excellence and professionalism in political communication and congratulates Barr. Felix Morka, CON, on this well-deserved honour.

As Governor of Borno State during some of the most challenging periods in the state’s history, Senator Shettima demonstrated extraordinary courage, resilience, and compassionate governance. His commitment to infrastructure, education, and human capital development laid the groundwork for recovery and rebuilding of the entire North East geopolitical zone. Later, as a distinguished Senator representing Borno Central, his legislative contributions consistently reflected his deep passion for socio-economic development and national unity.

Consequent upon his elevation as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Shettima continues to exemplify loyalty, strategic economic foresight, and unwavering commitment to the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration. Today, I represented His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the Second Edition of the Asiwaju Scorecard Series / Asiwaju Policy Roundtable. I conveyed Mr President’s warm greetings and appreciation for the opportunity to engage Nigerians on the critical task of moving our nation from economic uncertainty to stability, from stability to growth, and from growth to prosperity. I highlighted the progress recorded since the difficult but necessary reforms of the Tinubu administration, including stronger external reserves, increased non-oil revenue, improved trade performance, sustained GDP growth and a significant moderation in inflation. These gains demonstrate that the foundations are being strengthened, even as we recognise that macroeconomic stability is not the destination, but the foundation for cheaper food, more jobs, affordable credit, reliable power and stronger purchasing power.

I also emphasised that President Tinubu’s $1 trillion economy by 2030 is not merely a number; it is a national mission to build a more productive, competitive and prosperous Nigeria. Achieving it requires an integrated economic architecture built around strategic highways, railways, deep-sea ports, energy infrastructure and digital connectivity, linking our production centres to domestic and international markets. Our five-port maritime vision, supported by major road and rail corridors, can position Nigeria as the maritime, logistics and industrial gateway to West and Central Africa, while industrial parks, agro-processing zones, logistics hubs, manufacturing clusters and the AKK gas pipeline can transform infrastructure into production, jobs, exports and investment. Equally important is investing in our young people through education, skills development, digital training and responsible access to credit.

As we approach 2027, the choice before Nigerians is clear: progress or retreat; productivity or stagnation; investment or isolation. Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the foundation has been laid and the work has begun. Our task now is to move from reform to results, from results to growth, from growth to prosperity, and from prosperity to a $1 trillion economy

I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the DTN@100 Politician of the Year Award package, presented to me by the Publisher of Daily Times Nigeria, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, ahead of the historic DTN@100 celebration on September 3rd.

The commemorative package, which includes a 1960 edition of the Daily Times newspaper, an Award Certificate and a commemorative plaque, is far more than a collection of memorabilia. For me, it represents a powerful reminder of a journey in public service, leadership and the privilege of contributing, in whatever capacity, to the progress of our nation.

To be recognised by an institution with the remarkable history and legacy of Daily Times Nigeria is a special privilege. For a century, Daily Times has been an important part of Nigeria's media and national story, documenting our journey as a people and contributing significantly to the development of journalism and public discourse.

I therefore receive this honour with profound gratitude and, more importantly, with humility. Every recognition in public life should not only be celebrated; it should also deepen one's sense of responsibility. The All Progressives Congress (APC) heartily felicitates with Nigerians, especially the Muslim Ummah, on the sacred occasion of this year's Eid-el-Maulud.

A commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Eid-el-Maulud serves as a profound reminder of the virtues of peace, selflessness, humility, love, and sacrifice which were exemplified by the inimitable life of the Prophet.

As we mark this year's Eid-el-Maulud, it behoves us to reflect on Prophet Muhammad's noble teachings and emulate the values he espoused to foster harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence across our beautiful and diverse nation.

APC REOPENS MEMBERSHIP ELECTRONIC-REGISTRATION

Ahead of the 2027 General Elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the reopening of the Party’s Membership Electronic-Registration Exercise across the country on Monday, August 31, 2026.

We invite all Party stakeholders, supporters and members, old and new, to participate in the APC Membership Electronic-Registration Exercise. The exercise will be conducted in all wards nationwide. Existing members are expected to validate their membership, while new and intending members are encouraged to register and join the progressive family.

Registrants must be 18 years or older and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).

The E-Registration Exercise is designed to digitise the Party’s membership register, ensure the integrity of membership records, enhance efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen the Party’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria.

The prestigious recognition is part of the newspaper’s 100th Anniversary Celebration (DTN@100) and honours Prof. Yilwatda’s exemplary leadership, public service and contributions to national development.

The award will be presented at the Times Heroes Awards, scheduled to hold on 3 September 2026 at the ThisDay Dome, Abuja.
