Members of The Coalition, including former PM John Howard, signed an open letter to the PM wanting stronger action on gambling reform. It’s patently clear that the only thing standing in the way of gambling reform is the PM himself.#auspol#politas
Banning gambling ads to protect young Australians is not a left vs right issue.
We’re seeing yet again vested interests control of the major parties meaning the Australian people lose.
MPs across the Parliament support stronger action on gambling ads. If there was a conscience vote on a full ban, as was recommended by the Murphy Review, it would pass.

Australians lose $35 billion to gambling every year. In this episode we speak with Prof. Samantha Thomas who expose the industry’s "tobacco-style" playbook that targets kids and normalises addiction. We discuss the landmark Murphy Report’s push for a total ad ban, and why the government is choosing to protect vested interests over Australian kids.
Listen at the link in bio/below and email your MP letting them know you support a full gambling ad ban.

Unreal that some #politas MLCs are permitting a gambling driven #GreyhoundRacing welfare and cruelty crisis to be spun instead as a human welfare problem in which the enablers of cruelty are actually the victims. The core issue is a simple, moral one and it’s being dodged?
'Industry figures say the highest-earning gambling pubs in NSW rake in between $15 million and $20 million in gambling profits a year - which equates to about $190 million to $250 million being fed into each pub's poker machines a year.' @FinancialReview
Inequitable. Outrageous
Releasing weak exposure draft legislation on gambling late on a Friday afternoon is unfortunately so typical of the approach of the Albanese Govt on this important issue.
They know Australians want a full gambling ad ban but they're going for a patchy ban that won't protect Australian children from being exposed to gambling ads - 3 per hour and then unlimited after 8.30pm, including during the half time of live sport.
We need to do better and I'll keep pushing to legislate a full gambling ad ban which the majority of the community supports.

@DeanWinterMP Are you proud of your party causing industrial levels of gambling harm by doing the gambling industry bidding for them and blocking any meaningful gambling harm minimisation measures?
@WarnieDT Had Edwards at R3 so will take his 64 and hold. Much better long term play I think. Hopefully will stay inside the top 1k but a slight drop back possibly this week.
Instead of banning gambling ads, the Albanese Government's "solution" to gambling advertising makes it harder for content producers to do their job, more expensive for the government to regulate, and less likely that Australians will actually be protected from harm.
What nonsense. Just ban gambling ads. We all hate them anyway.

@PaulTatnell After he embarrassed himself during the Murphy Inquiry i'm surprised he still has a job. Although given @sportsbetcomau and Flutter are gutter dwelling parasitic organisations that's business models are built on harming people he'll probably keep getting promoted.
@DeanWinterMP More lives are hanging by a thread due to the predatory parasites that own poker machines and the gambling industry that your party does its bidding for. If you actually cared you'd stop blocking any meaningful gambling reform.
NSW Premier says ‘Sorry’ as pressure mounts for Pokies Reform.
Hold on #PokieMinns, nobody is talking about 'compensating clubs' for reducing their massive immoral earnings from preying on problem gamblers...except the clubs themselves.

Today’s Australian. #MoneyLaundering, #terrorism financing and #GreyhoundRacing. A toxic brew that extends beyond the inherent animal cruelty of course. Incredible that some #politas MLCs still think this is an activity based on ‘love’. Eyes wide shut? @WilkieMP
