Last Friday, SCIDaR joined the global movement for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Our employees wore orange to work as a call to action standing in unity for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Orange symbolizes a brighter future, free from violence, and our team showed their commitment by not only wearing the color but embodying its meaning. It was a moment to reflect, amplify, and inspire action.

The message is clear: we will not stand by in silence.

At SCIDaR, activism goes beyond a day—it’s embedded in how we work, lead, and collaborate to create safer communities. We’re not just imagining a violence-free world; we’re working to build it.

Uchenna Igbokwe (@UchennaIgbokwe8), our Executive Director, recently attended the Concept Foundation (non-profit)'s photo exhibition on the sidelines of #WHA77 in Geneva. The exhibit, "POSTPARTUM HAEMORRHAGE: A GLOBAL TRAGEDY AFFECTING GENERATIONS," resonated deeply with one of our projects at SCIDaR, the Smiles for Mothers (SfM) program funded by @MSDforMothers.

This exhibition shone a light on a critical issue: postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. PPH, or severe bleeding after childbirth, is a global tragedy disproportionately impacting low- and middle-income countries. The alarming statistics only tell part of the story and photographers Paul Joseph Brown and Joni Kabana captured the profound human cost of #PPH by spotlighting the people behind the numbers - mothers, daughters, sisters, and wives.

#SCIDaR, through the Smiles for Mothers program, is actively working to reduce PPH and maternal mortality in Nigeria, by implementing innovative solutions to ensure safe deliveries and healthy mothers.
